We booked this 2023 Tesla Model 3, months in advance for a 10:00 PM pickup at SFO. Although our flight was delayed by just over an hour, the car still wasn’t available when we arrived.
Initially, we were told someone would pick us up and take us to our accommodations. We walked with all of our luggage to the designated meeting location, only to be told to take an Uber instead and walk to another location. After a long day of travel, this was incredibly frustrating.
The vehicle wasn’t delivered to our rental until nearly 5:00 AM—about 7 hours after our reservation was supposed to begin.
The biggest reason we rented this Tesla was because it advertised Full Self-Driving (FSD). Unfortunately, FSD was disabled for almost our entire trip and didn’t become available until the second-to-last day of our 10-day rental. This was a major disappointment since it was the primary feature we specifically chose this car for.
When we contacted the host, they said they would check with another renter returning a Tesla to see if they could swap vehicles with us on Monday. After that, we never heard from them again for the remainder of our trip. There was no follow-up, no update, and no attempt to resolve the issue.
The only communication we received after that was the day before we returned the car—asking us to leave a 5-star review.
Overall, this was one of the worst rental experiences I’ve had. The car wasn’t available at the reserved pickup time, the advertised feature we paid for was unavailable for nearly the entire trip, communication was poor, and there was no meaningful effort to make things right. I cannot recommend renting from this host.

Two separate issues affected your rental: the prior guest returned the car late, which delayed your pickup, and their unsafe driving—texting while FSD was active—triggered a penalty that temporarily disabled the feature.
