We had an unfortunate issue with the car we originally rented from this host, but he was great in getting us switched and on our way. The car was perfect to scoot around Ocean Beach in!

I’ve been renting through Turo for years and have never had a bad experience. While this one wasn’t terrible, it was definitely the most unusual I’ve had.
Pros:
• The vehicle itself was clean, reliable, and got the job done.
• No issues during the trip once I had the car.
Cons:
• Immediately after booking, I was flooded with AI-generated messages. There was a lot of content, but very little of it was actually useful or necessary.
• Many of the rules outlined seemed to go beyond Turo’s standard policies, which felt excessive and honestly overwhelming.
• I was asked to provide additional documentation outside of Turo’s platform. When I questioned this, the host stated that Turo doesn’t care about customer safety, which was concerning and not something you expect to hear from someone operating on their platform.
• The volume of messages made it difficult to find key information. By pickup time, I had to scroll through what felt like a full book just to locate basic instructions.
• Pickup itself was not clearly communicated. When I arrived, the vehicle location was unclear, and the guidance provided was not as direct or helpful as it should have been.
• The host did inform me that there was a tracker on the vehicle. However, throughout the trip my phone repeatedly alerted me that an Apple AirTag was following me. While I understand security measures, the constant notifications were distracting and, at times, uncomfortable.
Overall:
This experience didn’t ruin my trip, but it did stand out for all the wrong reasons. Clear, concise communication and alignment with Turo’s standard process would have significantly improved the experience.
