Fabulous host! Car had a flat, screw in tire and host got me back on the road, tire changed in 15 mins! Would rent again.

I was stranded with a car that had the check engine light come on suddenly! The drive from the airport to our hotel was perfect! Then, as we were leaving the hotel to get some food the car immediately started shaking and was worse upon acceleration. Unfortunately, I was informed by the owner that he preferred me to drive the car 45 minutes back to the airport to get another Turo rental because they have several hundred cars there to rent. I told him I was not comfortable driving a broken car with active check engine light on by myself as a single woman in the dark and risk my safety to get the car back where it was better located for him. I felt extremely unsafe and notified owner they will have to get it towed because I refuse to put myself in danger. Owner agreed. I provided the hotel parking lot where the car was located, sent pics, and address for him to find it. Interesting that it was not towed until the next day.
The owner did allow me to end my trip early and process a refund. I am very thankful and grateful for that.
I am now going to highly question which future TURO rentals that we will use. Just a note, I’ve used TURO several times in the past few years and have never had a problem!
The irony is that I thought that I was upgrading and spending more money to ensure my safety by choosing a newer Mercedes. Apparently, I should have picked a lesser expensive car and been better off! Very upset about this rental.
