This Turo rental experience was the worst I have had with a Turo host to date…for that matter, any rental car experience:
- The car drop-off was hours late, making me late for plans made.
- The car was remarkably filthy, both inside and out. Pics to prove.
- There was a strong smell of marijuana in the car. I had to make excuses with valets for days due to the smell. The car owner claimed the smell was a “fragrance.”
- The car was dropped off to me with 3/4 tank of fuel.
The communication with the owner(s?) was initially great, but poor subsequently.
-Multiple parties responded from a pool of 4 hosts(?)
- The responses were random.
- Language translation tools they were using caused ongoing confusion.
- Car was seemingly safe though there was a slow leak in the driver’s rear tire that is allegedly my doing.
It’s not my style to jam the experience down the host’s throat but in this case, I do not recommend.
I should have read the prior reviews of them and this car in advance. Lesson learned.
The guest is refusing to pay for the fuel and toll charges and is attempting to pressure us by implying they will leave a negative review if we do not waive these legitimate fees.

Host was very communicative, car was easy to find, and quality was good. I sadly hit a deer (minor cosmetic damage only) and they were very understanding. Would book again.

Pick up was easy and communication was ok but unfortunately the car had very strong smells of Marijuana which didn’t ever go away through the whole trip. The car drives fine but lots of warning lights which you have to turn off everytime you start the car and car play was difficult to figure out with no instructions from the host. We did request / pay for a phone mount but the phone mount never made it in the car. If you have a family, maybe not the best car for you.
