Kyle responded quickly when I reached out with questions. He promptly fixed a couple of minor problems. The car was perfect for my needs! Thank you 😊

Don’t be misled by the previous 5-star reviews—I certainly was. From the beginning of this rental, there were multiple issues that made this one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had using Turo.

When I arrived to pick up the vehicle from the rental lot, I was unable to exit because the gate would not open. There was no parking ticket in the vehicle to use as a backup. I contacted the host, who told me the gate scans the vehicle’s license plate. I attempted to exit multiple times, backing up repeatedly because other cars were waiting behind me. When I called the lot’s assistance number, they informed me that while the gate is supposed to scan the license plate, there should always be a ticket in the vehicle in case the scanner fails.

After approximately 30 minutes—and already late for an appointment—I finally got out of the lot by paying $32 out of pocket for the vehicle’s parking fees. The host apologized and promised to reimburse me via Venmo, even stating, “I’ll send it over now.” As of writing this review, the trip is over and I still have not received the reimbursement.

Shortly after beginning my trip, I noticed a low tire pressure warning light on the dashboard. When I informed the host, he told me it was “just a bad sensor.” Unfortunately, that explanation became difficult to trust as additional issues surfaced. The vehicle made a noticeable rattling noise while driving and did not feel safe on the road.

My realtor happened to be driving behind me and alerted me that two of the three brake lights were not functioning. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable driving the vehicle and contacted the host to arrange an early return. I received no response. Because Turo could not assist me with obtaining a replacement vehicle until the current trip was closed out, I was left with little choice but to have the vehicle towed.

To make matters worse, the tow truck service canceled three separate times throughout the night for unknown reasons. The vehicle was not finally picked up from my hotel until approximately 4:30 a.m., leaving me awake most of the night. I then had to secure another rental the next morning so I could make an important appointment.

I’ve used Turo for years and have had many positive experiences, but this was by far the worst. Poor communication, unresolved safety concerns, and the failure to follow through on promised reimbursement made what should have been a simple rental extremely stressful. I would not rent from this host again.
