Tint was dark in front window hard to see

I selected this booking specifically for an upgraded Toyota Camry since we had a lot of commuting planned during our time in Central Florida. When we arrived, the vehicle had a strong marijuana odor, and the windshield tint was dark enough to make nighttime visibility unsafe for me to drive. As it was night when we arrived, I tried to make it work, but it was like having dark sunglasses on at night that I could not take off. I had to roll down the side windows to return to the parking space safely.

The host was very responsive and helpful once I reached out. He quickly offered an alternative vehicle (a Ford Escape) in the same lot, which allowed us to continue our trip without further delay. I appreciated his communication throughout the process.

That said, the replacement vehicle was a step down from what I originally booked, which was disappointing given the purpose of the rental. The host did offer a 25% discount to help make that right, which I appreciated. However, as of now (about a week later), that refund has not yet been processed.

Working through the situation with Turo was also more complicated than expected. I was initially told they could not refund the original booking to allow me to rebook with another host, due to it not being a mechanical problem. At first they indicated I would need to pay more to keep the replacement vehicle. After about 90 minutes on the phone, that was eventually resolved so I could keep the Escape at no additional cost.

Overall, I’m grateful for the host’s responsiveness and willingness to provide a solution, but the condition of the original vehicle, the downgrade, and the unresolved credit made this a less-than-ideal experience.
