Rented his 2015 Chevrolet Sonic. The car was a bit dirty on the inside, and had some exterior damage as well, but decent. The problem was while driving there would be a beeping noise that would go off and on lasting about 5 minutes each time it came on, plus the overheating light and tire pressure warning light was on the whole time I was driving. I contacted the host and he did respond promptly. He wanted to come and get the car, but I had already driven it to work on the highway. He told me to check the coolant and when I had a male friend check it while I was at work, come to find out the coolant was bone dry. Not good. I had to purchase the coolant to get to my second job. Host told me to park it and he would pick it up in the AM. I was left to get around another way and not use the rental I had purchased unfortunately. I was lucky it did not give out on me from what I was told. I didn’t get to use the car as I needed to unfortunately. I don’t like that the car’s mechanical issues were only spoken about after I had booked the car. I feel that is deceptive on the host part, and Turo’s if they don’t require it to be put in ads. Turo host should disclose upfront any issues with their cars in their ads so that renters can make the best decision for their safety. I was fully refunded for the rental by Turo the next day in which I will get it back within 10 days, (that sucks) but no refund for the coolant I had to buy yet. Turo said they can’t refund that, but the host can, or give me credit. Still nothing for the coming out of pocket for the coolant though. I haven’t heard from the host in regard to the reimbursement for the coolant. Nice guy, but the car’s mechanical issues need to be disclosed in your ads upfront.
