I have used Turo successful several times, and while I hoped for a similar experience, this time was different:
• Price jumped at booking. The total increased by $600+ within seconds of purchase — a $500 NYS security deposit I had to reach out to Turo to get answers, plus a $120 rental price difference. The host, Saiful, pointed to dynamic pricing, but that was sneaky, unfair and I would have made a different decision.
• Poor communication at airport. The Turo app download link was sent after I had already landed. Due to airport connectivity issues, I could not download the app, which left me unsure how I would even access the car.
• No return details were provided, so I circled the airport unsure of where to park. When I reached out, Saiful texted twice that he would meet me in 20 minutes. I kept asking where. He then said we did not need to meet and told me to simply park it. The back-and-forth added unnecessary stress at the end of the trip.
• Missing charging adapter. City of Buffalo has no Tesla Superchargers, so I needed the adapter to charge elsewhere. I could not find it. After I contacted Saiful, and waited for 30 minutes to hear back, he said it was in the trunk. I eventually found it buried under garbage left from a previous rental that had not been cleaned out.
