I rented a manual car & unfortunately the previous renter returned it way later than expected, to the point the host had to call & tell me I’d need another vehicle. I understand things happen, so the delay itself wasn’t really my issue.
What rubbed me the wrong way was the complete lack of any inconvenience compensation or customer service gesture. Even something small like a gas credit, slight discount, or future credit would’ve shown consideration. When I asked, I was basically told no.
I know it wasn’t the host’s fault the car came back late… but it wasn’t mine either. As an Airbnb host myself, whenever my guests are inconvenienced in any way, I always try to make it right somehow whether that’s pizza, Cash App, a partial refund, or a future stay discount. That’s just good hospitality.
The car itself was nice overall, but the floors definitely needed cleaning.
This host could benefit from stronger customer service etiquette & a more guest-focused approach.
