TL;DR
An exceptional 5-star experience renting Richard’s Lucid Air. The car was spotless, drove amazingly well, and Richard was a phenomenal, flexible host who went above and beyond when I had a location mix-up. Just keep in mind there’s a slight learning curve if it’s your first EV—highly recommend renting from Richard!
Detailed Review
As a first-time EV and Lucid driver, the car itself was an absolute dream to drive once I got past the initial learning curve. It was delivered super clean, fully charged (90%+), and performed flawlessly throughout the trip.
Richard was an outstanding host. When I misread the pickup location and showed up at PHX instead of Mesa Gateway, he was extremely responsive and accommodating—even offering to let me drop the car off at PHX at the end of the trip to make things easier. Excellent communication from start to finish.
Nice to Know (For First-Time EV / Lucid Drivers)
If you've never driven a Lucid or an EV before, a few tips that will save you time and stress:
* Key Card & Locking: There is no engine start/stop button—stepping on the brake turns it on, and putting it in Park prepares it to turn off. However, when using the Key Card, you must physically tap the card to the driver's side B-pillar to lock the doors. Passive walk-away locking requires the key fob, so don't just walk away with the card!
* Charging Network & Speeds: Connection types and speeds vary dramatically. A standard Level 2 charger takes 8–10+ hours, whereas a Level 3 DC Fast Charger (CCS connector) can get you back to 80%+ in 20 minutes. Use PlugShare or Electrify America apps to find Level 3 fast chargers specifically.
* Return Strategy: Don’t wait until return day to charge up from 20%. To avoid hopping around town hunting for compatible fast-chargers at the last minute, top off a little bit each day.

Car was excellent, very comfortable.

The car was a beast and fun to drive. The glass roof made the scenic view of AZ so much better. Only thing that was sort of a pain was using the charging station. Unlike teslas the stations for other EVs is really hit or miss. Regardless i would still rent again next time i come to AZ.

Wonderful car and fun to drive. The only issue we noted was how hot the interior became in the sun with that massive glass roof. It could be difficult to cool down. That’s probably most vehicles in AZ though.
