I rented the Chevrolet Corvette from September 17–21, 2026. First, I will say the car itself was absolutely beautiful and I definitely enjoyed driving it. The hosts, a husband and wife, were also very nice, laid-back, and pleasant to deal with personally.
My biggest issue with this rental was the lack of communication and information about the vehicle. There was existing damage to the front of the car, as well as a large bubble on the driver-side tire, and neither of those things were clearly pointed out to me when I picked the car up. Because of that, when I noticed them later, I genuinely thought I had caused the damage. I discovered the issue with the tire while I was in South Carolina, and it honestly scared me to death. I was afraid to continue driving because I thought something had happened while the car was in my possession.
I also wasn’t informed until pickup that the roof had to be manually removed. After paying what I did for the rental, that was frustrating because I would have liked to know that beforehand and make that decision for myself. The wife tried to show me how to remove the roof but had some difficulty explaining and demonstrating it, which ultimately resulted in a little damage to the roof. I do appreciate that they did not charge me for that.
There was also some confusion when we discussed picking the car up later. I was told that changing the pickup time would reduce the price, but I wasn’t told that it would also reduce the amount of mileage included with the rental. Those are the types of details that should be clearly explained so the renter can decide whether the change is actually worth it.
Overall, the car was gorgeous and the hosts were very nice people, but the communication and walkthrough definitely need improvement. When renting a vehicle like a Corvette, especially for several days and traveling out of state, existing damage, tire issues, roof operation, mileage changes, and other important details should be clearly explained before the renter leaves with the vehicle. A better walkthrough and more transparency would have made this a completely different experience for me.
