The experience started out great. Very friendly host even helped me extend the rental by rearranging another customer to a different car so I could keep the one I was in. Then it comes to returning the vehicle and every email and message in the app said the return instructions would be provided. I messaged and said I was returning the vehicle around 8pm. I got a response that he doesn’t allow “after hours” pick up and drop off. Also strange that when you rent the car you choose the pick up and return time and all hours are listed as a choice. So he came to work on Saturday an hour early because his hours start at 8 am and I explained to him that I had 12 hour shift that started at 8am. So the car was dropped off around 7:15 am and he took pictures of the car and loaded them into the app. Then almost 7 hours later I get a notice that the smoking policy was violated. His proof showed a cigarette butt beside the seat and the console and 2 other pictures of sand and grass on the floor. I DON’T SMOKE!!!!! I know that had to be put there after I returned the car or left from a previous customer. The message from Turo said if I wanted to dispute it either way documentation to respond to the email. I responded and asked how I am supposed to provide documentation that I don’t smoke. Told them again I don’t smoke so I definitely didn’t smoke in the car nor did my clothing smell of cigarettes. Looked up reviews on Turo and found that there are multiple complaints from customers being falsely accused of smoking. Turo responded to my email saying they understand but they were upholding the charges for violating the smoking policy. I have rented cars several times a year for over 20 years and never have I been charged with smoking in a car! Because I DON’T SMOKE!!!!

I’m very disappointed the trip ended this way, especially after we accommodated your extension and came in early for your return. However, cigarette ash and a discarded cigarette butt were discovered during our post-trip inspection and documented with timestamped photos before cleaning. The evidence was submitted to Turo for review. Luxurious Motor Club does not fabricate or stage evidence, and I stand behind the integrity of our documentation process.
