The car quality was as pictured. Cigarette burn on seat and minor damages on pieces of the infrastructure here and there. It is sufficient for day-to-day getting around. It was located in a parking garage and confusing to locate previous to the host sending detailed picture instructions. When I called to inform host I was in route, it was difficult to get through. We searched around for the car until I was able to get through to someone on the phone who apologized and said the car would not be available until 3pm. They said I could also shift the return time to 3pm. I was flexible and returned around 3:35/picked up around 3:40. Upon returning, I ran into delay and requested additional time to reflect the actual time I picked, rounded to 3:30. The host agreed. I also called customer service twice. CS1 said I had to wait to make the booking update when trip was over and CS2 said I should have made it during the trip. CS2 said since the system times did not reflect the pick up and and he could see it was the host who delayed the pick-up, I would not be charged. I was open to a reasonable 1 hour late fee due to arriving around 4:30; however, CS2 said I would not be charged. There was also no report of an interruption to another booking. Next day, I get invoiced for an additional $161 in additional to the original $250 I paid for 3 days. CS3's call got disconnected and CS4 said CS1 and CS2 were both wrong in their assessment. She said I had up until 2:30 pm (30 minutes after the original check-in time) to change the booking from my end. I was also supposed to have read their policies and procedure in the Helpdesk or call customer support instead of just working with the host. She doubled-down that even if I returned the vehicle at 3pm with consent from the host, I would have still been charged for being late once the host requested late fees. Also, for reference: The daily rate was roughly $83/day & $3.40/hour. The fees in the new invoice were $100 additional usage, $20 late fee, $20 admin fee, ~$16 airport permit fee, and sales tax, totaling $161.00. For 1 hour that I was late. So, now considering I am expected to pay $400 for having this car for 3 days (no damages, re-filled tank), I would say that the quality of the experience and car did not match the rate of $136/day I am expected to pay. There were several more options within that price range.
You agreed to 3pm pick up and I agreed to 3pm return and had you returned by 3 or even 330 all would have been fine. You chose to pick up at 330 and did not return until 450pm so the late fees were warranted
