The car itself was a beautiful yellow Mustang and, at first glance, everything looked great. Although it was about five years old and had a few cosmetic scratches, it drove very well. Communication with the owner (Kartech) was smooth, and both pickup and check-in were easy and efficient.
Unfortunately, the experience changed completely about 650 miles into our trip, on a remote road towards Monument Valley, when we suddenly had a flat tire.
A police officer stopped to help us replace it with the spare “donut” tire, but that tire was almost flat as well. He also inspected the damaged tire and pointed out that it was completely worn out, with the metal cords already visible. He told us this was a serious safety issue, especially given that we were in an area with no cell phone coverage.
I immediately contacted Kartech through Turo. They initially told me to replace the tire and assured me they would reimburse the cost. Even though I had purchased all available insurance options, including roadside assistance, I was informed that roadside support was only available in the Los Angeles/California area.
Finding a replacement tire in that remote region forced us to make a significant detour, adding around 150 extra miles to our trip. We also missed a pre-booked excursion worth $130 because of the delay.
After returning the car, the situation changed completely. The promised reimbursement for the $50 replacement tire was refused, and I was even charged for the additional 150 miles. I was told that the tire had become worn because of our use—which is difficult to understand after only 650 miles of normal driving.
The Mustang itself was enjoyable to drive, and the booking process was straightforward. However, I would strongly recommend carefully checking the condition of the tires and the vehicle before setting off, especially if you’re planning a road trip through remote areas. Also, be cautious about relying on promises of reimbursement made during the rental, as my experience after checkout was very different from what had initially been communicated.

The vehicle you rented was a Ford Mustang Convertible, which is designed for use on paved roads and is not intended for off-road driving. During your 10-day rental, the vehicle was driven more than 3,200 miles and sustained a damaged tire. It was returned in extremely dirty condition, both inside and out.
This car was so much fun. Took a road trip with my family, on a beautiful summer day. Drives really nice just like a Mustang, is comfortable and easy to take the top up and down.
