I couldn't have asked for a better rental experience! From the very beginning, Jason and Andrea were incredibly kind, communicative, and accommodating. The car was exactly as described-clean, comfortable, reliable, and made it so easy to explore every corner of Kauai. It handled everything from scenic coastal drives to winding mountain roads without any issues.
This was my first time visiting Kauai and my first time using Turo. Having a dependable car gave me the freedom to experience so much of the island. I made memories I'll never forget, including celebrating my birthday, and I'm truly grateful that their vehicle was part of that experience.
The gas mileage was excellent! I stayed for five days, drove all around the island, and only had to fill up the tank once before returning the car.
The only minor challenge I experienced was with the Turo app. It stopped loading the day before and the morning of checkout. Thankfully, I was able to text Jason and Andrea directly. They responded quickly, and I was able to send my checkout photos via text. Later, I discovered I could log in and upload everything through Safari instead of the app. I'm not sure why the app wasn't working, but they made the situation completely stress-free.
One helpful tip for future renters: if you've never used a lockbox before (I hadn't!), don't worry! 🤣 It took me a minute to figure it out, but it's actually very simple. The key is stored inside the lockbox. When returning the car, be sure to place the key back inside the lockbox before closing it. Then, enter the code again to lock it completely. I kept the lockbox in the glove compartment during my trip and simply reattached it to the window before returning the car.
