As one who has driven a Passat before, when I mentioned the steering wheel was loose and needed to be tightened to the steering column (as repairs had obviously been done) I was met with backlash, with them saying "the car was up to Turo's standards". They also had left their OBD scanner and needed to pick it up which put a damper on the trip. The seat heating doesn't work on the driver's side, and obvious engine work needs to happen (the engine would dip below 1.k rpm on the smallest of uphill drives, wouldn't ramp up, then would boost to 4.5rpm in an instant and nearly peel out).
For the most part it met our needs, but would not rent again.
Our cars undergo regular inspections and meet all Turo safety standards. The steering and engine were verified before and after this trip — no issues existed. The guest’s claims are exaggerated and inaccurate. The OBD scanner was briefly left after maintenance and picked up quickly. The vehicle performed normally and safely throughout the rental.
