IDrive button in car was very sticky at pickup along with broken steering wheel controls. Shortly after driving the navigation stopped working and airbag light lit up on the dashboard along with the passenger seatbelt light when there was nothing on the passenger seat. Car would also not charge at multiple Electrify America stations showing an error when plugging in. Which cause me to get stranded looking for a way back having to extend my trip by 3 hours.
The vehicle was fully inspected before the trip and was operating normally. None of the issues mentioned in this review were reported to us during the trip, which would have allowed us to assist immediately. The BMW i3 has been reliably used by many guests without these problems. Charging also depends on correct use of compatible stations. We always encourage guests to contact us right away so any concerns can be resolved promptly.

Host wqs great. Car was good too but I did encounter an issue that required me to leave the passenger seat belt plugged in. No big deal. Would rent again.

Overall, Finding charging stations was a pain, especially if you are not familiar with electric cars. Mile range on charge is deceiving. Return policy is not flexible. We had to extend a couple of times due to a family emergency instead of returning a week before the return date because I had to leave out of town. We searched for a charging stations close by drop off location and none of them were working. Charge fee not flexible- even with pictures of issues with charging stations.
We learned electric cars are not for us.
Car is well kept, home charger included, range extender is a +, host is communicative.

Nikita who dropped the car off was great but when I called someone else answered and was not helpful at all.
Pickup and drop off location was not clear. Charging was not working anywhere in the city. It would have been helpful to know that we could charge on the 7th floor of the airport for free.
All instructions were clearly provided before and during the trip, including charging info, parking location, and how to operate the BMW i3. We repeatedly asked if the guest understood how to use an electric vehicle and received no response. It’s not our responsibility if the guest ignores messages and instructions, then blames us for their confusion. This situation could have been easily avoided with basic communication.
