Michael might be one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. He went out of his way to drop off an adapter at our hotel before our trip officially began. He’s very thorough with his instructions at the time of pick up if it’s your first time driving a Tesla.
For those wondering, on the Big Island, a Tesla Model 3 has enough range to go almost anywhere on a full charge other than the Volcano area. You can drive from Hilo all the way up north with all the stops and get to the north western side of the island without recharging. If you drive to Volcano from the west side of the island, make sure the car is fully charged. You can recharge in Hilo and come back to Volcano with a 30 min drive to explore Chain of Craters Rd without anxiety. There’s an EV charger at the south end of the island that’s absolutely critical for getting the car to Hilo where the next chargers, but it was unfortunately not working. If you can recharge there, exploring the Volcano National Park is a breeze.
