Host was a good communicator and polite. Unfortunately the car wasn’t maintained. Definitely needed some work to feel travel worthy/road safe. Had to end my contract early. Hope Turo pulls through on the refund..

My wife and I planned a trip to the Big Island nearly a year in advance to celebrate our 59th anniversary. We didn’t realize that December is such a high-demand time in Hawaii, and rental cars were extremely limited. Through Turo, we found a 2010 Kia offered by James D., a Big Island resident, and felt fortunate just to secure a vehicle.
The process was smooth from start to finish. We used the car for a week, drove it as needed, and returned it on time without any issues. At drop-off, a young lady greeted us and was very gracious, making the experience even easier.
We highly recommend James D. if you’re looking to rent a car on the Big Island.

The Kia was great for my time on the big island. James was quick to respond with communication and able to look at, catch, and fix a small issue that was starting to develop all within an hour of the communication. He takes good care of his vehicles and I would be more than happy to rent from him again.
