The car itself drove perfectly and I had no mechanical issues during my trip. However, I was very disappointed by its condition when I picked it up.
My original Turo JEEP booking was cancelled just two days before my trip, so I had no choice but to book this Mustang at around $200 per day, making it one of the most expensive rentals available.
At that price, I expect the car to be spotless. Instead, it was noticeably dirty, with marks throughout the interior and seats that clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned. It honestly felt like the previous guest had returned it that same morning and it was handed directly to me that afternoon without any cleaning in between.
During my trip to Hawaii, I rented three other cars on three different islands, and every one of them was delivered clean and well prepared. Ironically, this was by far my most expensive Turo rental, yet it was also the least clean.
What made the experience even more ironic was that, before I returned the car to the airport, the host sent me a message reminding me that if I returned it dirty, I could be charged a $150 cleaning fee. Considering the condition in which I received the car, I found that quite surprising.
It’s a shame because the car itself was great, but charging a premium price comes with premium expectations, and the cleanliness simply did not match the price I paid.
