First time using turo. A few things to note the actual pick up location of vehicle is not at JFK its off site. a required additional transport to pick up [either Airtrain or Uber ride additional/separate fee.] Although this was an inconvenience I was able to locate vehicle.
The host was very responsive during pick up. I was a bit disappointed to receive a car that wasn't clean. The exterior was dirty and the inside wasn't vacuumed.
Other than that the vehicle drives well.
Drop off process host was a bit slow to respond.
Last host did offer a percentage off for the pick up inconvenience, (im hoping that also applies to drop off.)
Overall an OK experience with booking and service.

I want to give a fair and honest review because our experience started off positively but ended very disappointingly.
We initially rented the vehicle for two weeks while we were in New York for the adoption of our newborn son. As our original reservation was coming to an end, we still had not received clearance to return home, so we were trying to extend our rental for approximately four additional days. From the beginning, we explained that our timeline was completely up in the air and that while we potentially needed a vehicle through Thursday, we could not provide a definitive date because we were waiting for clearance to travel home.
When our original vehicle was dropped off late, the host was helpful and communicative in dealing with the situation. When we needed to extend our stay, he was also kind enough to arrange another vehicle for us to switch into, which we genuinely appreciated.
However, after already being away from home for two weeks, we unexpectedly received clearance that we could fly home the very next day. Because the trip had already become extremely expensive, we immediately booked flights and contacted the host about returning the vehicle early. He allowed us to drop the vehicle off early, and during our conversation there was no indication that he intended to deny the reservation change.
The host told me his phone had been destroyed, so I contacted Turo directly to adjust the reservation. That is when Turo informed me that the host had actually denied the change. I texted him several times and received no response. When I was finally able to reach him by phone, he explained that he would not accept the change because he had canceled another customer’s reservation in order to provide us with this vehicle.
I told him that I was genuinely grateful he had accommodated us, but I also explained that our circumstances were communicated from the beginning. We had already rented from him for two weeks and were only attempting to extend the rental by four days because we did not know when we would be cleared to leave. Had he told us that those additional days would be nonrefundable regardless of when we received clearance, we could have made an informed decision.
Instead, he accepted the vehicle back early without telling us he planned to deny the change, leaving us paying for days we no longer had possession of the vehicle. He acknowledged my frustration but told me he was not going to do anything to resolve the situation. He offered a discount on a future rental, but after this experience, a future discount does nothing to address the additional expense we are dealing with now.
I appreciate the help and communication he provided initially, and I understand that he also has a business to run. My issue is not that he accommodated us or that his plans with another renter changed—it is the lack of transparency about the financial consequences of returning the vehicle early. Given that he knew the uncertainty surrounding our adoption timeline from the beginning, I wish he had simply been upfront with us before accepting the vehicle back.
Unfortunately, what began as a positive experience ended with us feeling taken advantage of during an already stressful and expensive adoption trip.

Easy pick up and drop off near the airport. The car was in good condition and had no issues driving. Communication was smooth and responsive. Definitely rent if you are coming to NY.
