This was our first experience using TURO and our first rental from LA Auto Spot (Dallas). Unfortunately, it will also be our last.
The problems started before we even found the car. The pickup instructions sent us to the wrong location, requiring multiple shuttle rides across the airport late at night. When we finally found the vehicle, it didn't match the listing photos. Instead of the newer car we expected, it had a broken front grille stuffed with a trash bag and trash left in the trunk.
We then couldn't leave the lot because the exit gate wouldn't open. After waiting more than 20 minutes for Turo customer service to answer the call button, we finally had to back up and try another lane just to get out.
Within minutes of leaving the pickup lot, the tire pressure warning light came on. We immediately notified the host and, over the next four days, repeatedly added air to the tire, followed the host's instructions to have it patched, and spent hours driving to tire shops and trying to resolve the issue. Despite all of that, we woke up on the morning of our flight to a dangerously flat tire and spent our last morning worrying about making it to the airport instead of enjoying our vacation.
We documented everything with photos and exchanged 76 messages with the host about the vehicle's condition and the tire problems. Turo offered only a half-day refund for a rental that was affected from beginning to end. When we asked to speak with someone who could provide a more appropriate resolution, we never received another response.
To make matters worse, the host later submitted an invoice charging us for a brand-new tire, even though the tire problems began immediately after pickup and were documented throughout the rental. We disputed the claim and are still waiting for a resolution.
Mechanical issues can happen. What matters is how they're handled. Based on our experience, we won't be renting through Turo or LA Auto Spot again.

During the post-trip inspection, a nail was found in one of the tires, which caused the flat. Damage claims are submitted based on the documented condition of the vehicle before the trip and the condition observed while it is in the guest's possession, following Turo's process. The front grill had some damage that is not shown in the picture of the vehicle offered for rent. It isn’t a bad vehicle. It just doesn’t have any modern conveniences. You would expect from a 2025. Other than that everything was fine.
