RENTER BEWARE
This was my first time using Turo, and probably my last. I rented this Prius for 3 days.
Here’s the positive: The host delivered the car to my hotel on time and was clear in all communications. He was also very responsive in messages. The car was clean and in a presentable condition.
Here’s the negative: While on the freeway, one of the tires blew out, and no, I did not run over anything to cause this. It was a very scary moment and it was fortunate that I did not crash. I had to pay for a tow and a new tire out-of-pocket and a significant amount of money and time was taken away from my vacation to deal with this. Even though I was able to resume the remainder of the trip with the car, I was still anxious to drive it for fear of something else going wrong. This incident really put a damper on my trip.
I question whether these cars on Turo receive the proper maintenance they require for safe driving. For that reason, I’ll be booking elsewhere for my rentals.
Hi Marisa, thank you for your feedback. Pre-trip photos clearly show the tires were in excellent condition and had been replaced about a month before your reservation. A tire blowout during a trip is considered a road hazard and not the host’s responsibility. You attempted to charge this to me, which I did not accept. I’m glad you were safe and able to continue your trip. Wishing you all the best in your future travels.
