STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOST
I cannot express how poor of an experience this was. From the start:
I chose pick up at JFK but after booking I was given instructions to take the air train and then pay $8/person to exit the MTA system and then walk over 10 minutes to the car. The walk was fine but having to pay $16 to exit the air train was both not indicated and not welcome.
Drove the car about 20 miles and pulled over to grab something out the back seat. Get back in the car and it wouldn’t turn over. Attempted to contact the host who read the communication but did not write back. Was able to call him and got direction to check the battery connection. Car turned back over and was able to finish that drive to my destination.
Next day, check engine light and “service now” warning in dash. This was around 5pm. Contacted the host. Also read the communication, but did not respond for over two hours. I contacted Turo who was very helpful in organizing tow truck. I told the owner the car would be towed back to him but he only responded with his address to send it to. No apology, no acknowledgement of the situation. Nothing.
I’ve used Turo for years and had great experiences. This was everything that could go wrong paired with an unbelievably unresponsive host.

Happy I rented the Altima from Darren. It’s a well maintained car, Darren was great with communication and punctual with pick up and drop off. I’d definitely rent for him again!
No smoking allowed
