What is off-trip insurance?
Off-trip insurance is an embedded insurance and assurance infrastructure platform. Tint Embedded Insurance Services LLC ("Tint") is a licensed property and casualty ("P&C") and surplus lines insurance producer in states where it transacts insurance. INSHUR, Inc. is a program administrator and licensed U.S. insurance producer.
Does off-trip insurance meet state minimum requirements?
Yes! Insurance provided by Tint meets the minimum insurance requirements for any US state where coverage is available. Tint will provide you with an insurance card that will act as proof of financial responsibility for vehicle registration purposes or if you are pulled over or involved in an accident.
Policies provided by INSHUR are available in 26 US states and meet or exceed state minimum insurance requirements in those states.
How much does the off-trip car insurance cost?
Policies through Tint start at $90 per month per vehicle for damage plus liability insurance, and liability coverage starts at $56 per month per vehicle. Policies through INSHUR start at $82 per month per vehicle for damage plus liability insurance, and liability coverage starts at $40 per month per vehicle. All pricing will be detailed by your chosen provider before you purchase the policy. The final price depends on the policy you choose and a few risk factors.
Who’s allowed to drive my vehicles when they’re not booked on Turo?
Only the Turo host, co-hosts, and employees are covered under the off-trip insurance policies.
Do I need a GPS tracker?
Yes. All vehicles, including Teslas, will need to be connected to a Tint-approved or an INSHUR-approved GPS device to remain on Tint’s telematics plan and all INSHUR’s policies. With Tint, if you don’t connect within the first 60 days, you'll automatically be enrolled into Tint’s non-telematics plan for an increased rate. For policies provided by INSHUR, you’ll need to connect your telematics device within the first 60-days to continue your coverage.
When will my payment method be charged?
Tint and INSHUR will charge for the first month of coverage when you purchase the insurance. Moving forward, you’ll be charged on a monthly basis.
Can I use this insurance to cover my vehicles used on other platforms or for private rental use?
No, Tint and INSHUR off-trip insurance only apply to vehicles listed on Turo and don’t cover use on other platforms or for private rentals.
Does off-trip insurance cover vehicles registered under a business/entity name?
Yes! This program is a commercial policy, designed with businesses in mind. Tint and INSHUR allow hosts to sign up for coverage using a business or entity name. If you sign up with a business name, your COI and ID cards will be issued to the business entity. Additionally, upon request, Tint allows hosts to add their business to their vehicle's COI as an additional insured or registered owner.
What states do Tint and INSHUR offer this coverage in?
Tint coverage is available in every US state except for New York and Kentucky. INSHUR offers coverage in 26 US states.
Do I need a minimum number of vehicles to be eligible for this insurance?
Yes, Tint requires you to have three or more vehicles on Turo at all times to be eligible for coverage.

Is this off-trip insurance for business use only?
Yes, Tint off-trip insurance is for business use only. That means you’ll be covered when you drive the vehicle for your Turo business, like delivering the vehicle to a guest or going to the car wash, gas station, and mechanic. Coverage for personal use isn’t included under plans provided by Tint.
No, INSHUR off-trip insurance is for business use and includes personal use for up to 50% of your off-trip miles.
When does my coverage begin?
Coverage provided by Tint or INSHUR starts the moment you complete your purchase. After you’ve completed your transaction, your policy documentation will be emailed to you.
How many miles a month can I drive with off-trip insurance?
With Tint, there is no longer a mileage limit for any of your covered vehicles. Plans provided by Tint cover unlimited off-trip miles. Plans provided by INSHUR cover 250 miles maximum per month when driving for Turo-related business purposes.

Yes! If you have 40 or more eligible cars listed on Turo and at least 25 of those are covered with a policy provided by Tint, you’ll automatically be enrolled in Tint Priority — an elevated service tier for high-volume hosts. Tint Priority gives you access to dedicated phone and email support for customer service and claims, faster turnaround times on operational requests, expedited exception reviews, a dedicated claims adjuster, and early access to new features and products.
