PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. MOST first time Turo renters do not read Turo's fine print so here are the major points. My BIGGEST peeve is sand. Many renters ask what the big deal is with sand and believe it is 5 to 10 minutes of vacuuming. If you can SEE the sand, that is just the TOP layer. Deep in the carpet is about 20 times the amount. I made a 4 minute Youtube video of how much vacuuming is necessary to get rid of just a small percentage of the sand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xpqMFlWVqU Actual vacuuming time for just that spot took 90 minutes. Now imagine that all over the rest of the vehicle. Just because there are mats does not mean it will protect from sand. This car has Weathertech mats and all this sand still got UNDER them. The best way to avoid getting sand in the car is not to hop in with wet / sandy swimsuits, towels, shoes, and hair and to change after going to the beach. The ocean water is FULL of salt and sand and after it dries will scatter everywhere. Also by tapping your shoes together before entering the car, most of the sand will fall off the shoes / slippers. Sunscreen contains zinc oxide and is very hard to scrub off. Please be careful with it. Turo cleaning fine will apply ($250). Do NOT eat or drink in the car. I've had issues with coffee, Coke, milk, beer, fruit punch, ice cream spills and stains and as well as french fries and hamburger crumbs, spam musubi rice, chocolate smears, etc. They WILL attract ants and roaches as well as cause permanent stains. The next renter would not appreciate ants and roaches in the car just like you wouldn't. Turo cleaning fine will apply ($250). I take and upload 100 to 250 photos at the beginning of each trip to the Turo app. Interior (ceiling, under mats, under seats, trunk, etc.) and exterior (undercarriage, wheels, tires tread, etc.). These photos are what Turo will go by for cleaning fines. I take pride in ALL my cars new and old and ALL are filled to the MAX, washed, vacuumed (sand-free), and disinfected before you get into it, unless a bad previous renter returns the car late and prevents this from happening. Some MAY have permanent stains like red fruit punch or sunscreen that do not come out with shampooing. These will NOT stain your clothes as they are permanently stuck. My car must be returned with a MAX tank of gas (as I will give it to you max) unless you choose the prepaid fuel option. For missing gas Turo charges a $10 convenience fee PLUS the cost of the missing gas (I will upload photo of receipt along with odometer readings). The closest and cheapest suggested gas station to fill up is Hele at: 4259 Lawehana St, Honolulu, HI 96818. -> https://goo.gl/maps/7kAwtDikbaP2 Please CHECK IN AND OUT on the Turo PHONE APP so Turo knows what time you picked up the vehicle and what time you returned it. The Turo WEB SITE does NOT have the ability for you to check in or out. Please upload photos of the interior and exterior of your own or Turo may not insure your end in case of any cleaning or damage claims. They may also charge you a late fee if both our checkout times are late. Do NOT checkout before the car is returned otherwise Turo will not cover you in case of an accident. A renter got burned exactly because of this and owed Turo $9,000 for the damage done to my vehicle and the vehicle she hit. You are responsible for all new damage to the vehicle (including tires) while it is in your possession. Nails in tires, cracked windshields, front lower bumper scrapes, etc. Most Turo protection package has DEDUCTIBLES. Many people think their personal car insurance covers Turo rentals and decline protection. Be careful as many insurance companies consider Turo to be car sharing and not car rental and will decline coverage for damages. Call them to confirm your coverage for CAR SHARING not CAR RENTAL. The worst one is Geico. 100% of claims are denied. The best one is USAA with 100% of claims approved. The other ones are hit or miss. NO SMOKING weed, cigarettes, or vaping. NO PETS PERIOD ! You will be fined by TURO $250 without exception. My son and I are allergic. If you get the car dirty, there are many car washes in Honolulu but the CHEAPEST one that you can go to WITHOUT an appointment that also vacuums (BUT NOT SAND!) is McKinley Car Wash at 1139 Kapiolani Boulevard, Honolulu, HI 96814. It's around $23. All the other ones on island that vacuum and wash are $40 to $120 and take even longer. Please check on the Internet or call them regarding hours and holiday schedules. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. When it's slow, you'll be in and out in 20 minutes. When busy, it will take up to 2 hours ! so budget your time accordingly. ONLY the person on the Turo account can pick up and DROP OFF the car. You MUST bring a VALID NON-EXPIRED driver's license with your picture when you pick up the vehicle. I WILL NOT release the vehicle if you do not have a valid license. Passports, green cards, ID cards, temporary papers, and pictures of your driver's license will NOT be accepted. If I do not upload the driver's license on my end, Turo will deny MY coverage. I have had a scammer steal my car before and Turo denied coverage for it because they had a "temporary driver's license document." After we communicate and I confirm availability, you can go ahead and add them BEFORE the trip starts. You cannot add them after the trip begins. If damaged or missing, child booster seats cost $35, GPS $90, USB chargers $10, and Bluetooth FM adapters $20. PLEASE SPECIFY if you need any. If not, they may not be available when you pick up the car. Turo's number is 1-[Number redacted for privacy and security] for roadside assistance, key lock outs, jump starts, and tire changes. For mechanical issues I may offer another car IF AVAILABLE. If not, the trip WILL BE ENDED and you will have to wait for the vehicle to be towed away. You CANNOT leave it unattended. The REST of your trip will be refunded. Most are old cars. Even 1 or 2 year old rental cars at the big rental companies break down just the same. I send ALL my cars to Goodyear for oil changes and checkups EVERY 4000 miles so they are all properly maintained. NO EARLY PICKUPS OR LATE RETURNS ! Turo only insures my vehicle and what it hits DURING the rental period. A renter got into an accident 7 minutes after I released the car to him 5 minutes early. Turo said I was VERY lucky it was 2 minutes into the trip otherwise I would have been on the hook for $30,000 in damages to my car and the car he hit. Please make sure you return the car sometime between return time to 29 minutes AFTER return time. Do NOT show up BEFORE the end of the trip time as I MAY NOT BE HOME or we will not be able to check out on the app properly and I will have to call Turo to end the trip manually and they sometimes have a long hold time up to 25 minutes. If you return early, you will NEED TO WAIT till the trip end time or for me to call Turo to get on the phone to end the trip manually, whichever comes first. Once again, do NOT show up early. I have another job and am not home A LOT but will be there for check in and out. I do Turo ONLY FROM 10am to 5:30pm Tuesday through Saturday because of this. NO Sun or Mon RETURNS ! Do NOT book my car if you need to return or pickup afterhours ! ALL my cars have a minimum rental period of 3 to 5 FULL days (72 to 120 hours) depending on the car. I do NOT do 1 or 2 day rentals. You will NOT see my cars available if you put a time period less than their minimum. Do NOT book the car for it's minimum period and try to shorten it. As per Turo's rules, you have a 30 minute window to pickup or return the car. More than sufficient. Turo auto charges late fees after returning 30 minutes late. Even if you check out before returning the car, I won't be able to so the time stamp is dependent on MY check out time. If you are going to be more than 30 minutes late, extend the trip BEFORE the trip ends so you won't be charged the late fee plus additional usage fee. You CANNOT extend the trip once the time of return has passed or if there is another renter for it. No off-roading (gravel roads, sand, mud, red dirt areas, pineapple fields, etc) PERIOD. Be careful where you park or you may be ticketed and towed. We have A LOT of metermaids and tow trucks here in Honolulu, especially in Waikiki. If you do NOT pay the ticket, there will be Turo fees, late fees, court fees, and collection fees on top of the ticket cost and will be charged to your card AUTOMATICALLY by Turo. Renters get towed and ticketed on average 4 times a month. If towed, YOU will be responsible for getting the car out of the tow yard. It will typically cost $300 plus $150 for the ticket written by the police. A few tow yards require me to physically be there to retrieve the vehicle. I will NOT be able to get the car out of the tow yard right away. If this causes a problem with returning the vehicle back on time, improper and late return fees will be assessed by Turo. I do NOT DELIVER OR PICK UP PERIOD. You MUST pickup and return the car to my house. It is ILLEGAL to do ANY Turo business at the airport. I have been fined TWICE by security / sheriffs ($500 and $1000) at Honolulu International Airport. IF ANY of the above bothers you, DO NOT BOOK or if you already did, CANCEL THE BOOKING as soon as possible so Turo does not charge your card and you don't get charged canceling fees (second paragraph).
