The replacement car was not what we needed or expected. It was older, too small, and was beat up.

COCKROACHES!!!
I wish I were exaggerating, but that was the reality of my experience renting this 2022 Chevrolet Camaro. From the moment I got into the vehicle, I noticed a strong, damp mildew odor that immediately raised concerns about the cleanliness and upkeep of the car. Within minutes of getting into the vehicle for the first time in the evening hours, those concerns turned into outright disgust when I saw multiple cockroaches crawling around inside on the seats, along the floorboards, and in areas no renter should ever have to inspect.
This wasn’t a minor cleanliness issue, it was a full-blown sanitation problem that made the vehicle completely unusable. My wife refused to even sit in the car, and I don’t blame her. No one should be expected to drive or occupy a vehicle in that condition. I contacted the host right away to request a full refund. Instead of acknowledging the severity of the situation, I was asked to drive to a separate, designated location for an inspection and possible vehicle swap. Given the infestation and odor, this was an unreasonable and frankly unacceptable request. Continuing to drive that car was not an option.
At that point, I reached out to Turo Customer Support for guidance. They confirmed that I was not obligated to meet the host at another location under those circumstances, which was a relief. Following their direction, I returned the vehicle immediately. To Turo’s credit, once the issue was escalated, they handled it appropriately and ultimately issued a full refund due to the condition of the vehicle. I appreciate that resolution, but it does not excuse the fact that this car was ever listed and rented out in the first place.
This experience was extremely disappointing and disrupted what should have been a smooth trip. Cleanliness is a basic expectation, and this fell far below any acceptable standard. I would strongly caution others before renting this vehicle or from this host. 0 stars, period!
