Great car for Hilo, really good on gas

Finding the car was difficult because it had become dark, was raining hard and I didn’t have a good description of where it was on the lot (something like, “ it’s in the first row of cars directly across from and facing the terminal”). Even though I paid $78.74 for what was called, “AIRPORT PERMIT FEE” as part of the rental, I was surprised upon exiting the airport parking lot to have to pay $8 to exit the lot… I have rented other cars through Toro, with pick up and drop off at the same airport location and never had this happen. The car is only 1 year old, but had a strange smell (covered with air freshener) and was VERY Dirty inside upon picking up (which was even visible in the dark). Food particles down in the front compartments (cup holders, etc) and all of the floor mats (4), seats covers and trunk showed excessive crumbs and/or dirt and signs of previous rentals and/or the owners use. As we picked it up in the heavy rain in the evening and had prepaid for 16 days, I chose to accept it and clean it myself. Spent $ to vacuum the inside out and wipe down the food and fingerprints on the display screen, etc. Found Corona beer caps under the passenger side front seat…I have never rented a car through TORO or a rental car agency that was not cleaned/vacuumed out inside prior to picking up (at least visually). There were also two large metal plates secured over one of each of the front and rear door speakers that were attached with ONE screw and a small amount of adhesive. A corner that kept catching on my mom’s clothes when she got in or out of the car. The windshield wiper blades needed replacement and it made it difficult to see for about half of the trip because the rain was very heavy. The car did handle well, but the basic cleaning maintenance required that we all expect was lacking. Having spent $60 short of 1K for 16 days, I expected a higher quality of cleanliness…

Pick-up was simple. Car was great on gas.

First time driving a Kia and it was OK. Even being small person, I found it hard to get into the driver's seat. Would not rent another Kia A4. My experience using Turo was a good experience. Since this was my initial experience I Turo I did encounter some difficulties. I would like a do it again now that I some what understand the process. 🤔 Thank for your kokua when I needed it.
