The vehicle had serious drivetrain issues from the start, including a drivetrain malfunction warning that compromised both acceleration and handling. I contacted the owner immediately, and was shockingly told to drive the malfunctioning car to an auto parts store to “pull the code.” Not only was this unsafe, it did nothing to resolve the problem.
Shortly after, the car began smoking heavily from under the hood and completely lost the ability to accelerate. Instead of taking responsibility, the co-host informed me the owner would not arrange towing and required me to handle it through Turo. To make matters worse, they attempted to charge me an additional $118 for fuel and a convenience fee, even though the vehicle broke down and had to be towed before I could refill the tank.
This was a dangerous, unprofessional, and unacceptable experience.
