I really hoped to resolve this directly with the host before writing a review like this — but after multiple unanswered messages, I feel I owe it to other renters to share my experience honestly.

This car was rented for a multi-day road trip from San Francisco to Mendocino — a special trip for my partner and me. Unfortunately, the condition of the vehicle made it one of the most unpleasant driving experiences I've had.

Here's what we found:

— The gas tank cover was completely missing. Not mentioned in the listing, and the listing photos appear to deliberately avoid showing it.
— One tire had a deep gouge and chip — a potential safety hazard on a highway trip.
— The car pulls noticeably to the right, consistent with an alignment or suspension issue.
— Above 50 mph, the entire car vibrates and rattles heavily — steering wheel, front end, throughout. It gets significantly worse at highway speeds.
— There is severe wind/air coming through the driver-side rear door seal. The host attributed this to an aftermarket exhaust — but wind leaking through a door seal and exhaust noise are completely unrelated issues.
— The driver-side rear window button is broken. When I reported this, the host said it "didn't surprise" him — meaning he already knew and didn't disclose it.
— The seat cover is a rough synthetic material, not leather.
— The emergency brake is awkward and difficult to operate.

I reached out to the host on May 18th with all of these concerns. After no response, I followed up on May 19th. He finally replied that night with explanations that were, frankly, inaccurate — blaming alignment and vibration issues on the exhaust, and suggesting I was driving too hard (I was on standard coastal roads, driven gently). I responded respectfully on May 20th. I have since followed up multiple times — May 21st, May 22nd twice — and have received no reply.

I understand older cars have quirks. That's not the issue. The issue is that multiple known defects were not disclosed, the price did not reflect the actual condition, and when I raised concerns in good faith, the host went silent.

If you're considering this car for a short local errand, maybe it works. For any kind of road trip — avoid it. And if something goes wrong, based on my experience, don't count on the host to be there for you.

The quality of the car was poor not renting from them ever again.
