LET MY STORY BE A LESSON TO NEVER RENT FROM TURO. GO THROUGH A REGULAR COMPANY.
THIS CAR EXPERIENCED SEVERE ENGINE ISSUES ABOUT 2 HOURS INTO MY 6 HOUR ROAD TRIP FROM LOS ANGELES TO SAN FRANCISCO. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT RENT THIS CAR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. AND DO NOT
I appreciate the owner for his assistance over the phone while I was experiencing this. He was helpful and communicative. HOWEVER—I did find it a bit strange that he was trying to downplay the severity of the car issues and make it sound like it was going to be a quick and easy fix. He also was trying to convince a mechanic at one of the 2 auto repair centers to fix the car when the mechanic himself said that due to their company policy that couldn’t work on European cars.
AS FOR TURO, I was stranded in Bakersfield and I was given no real solutions on how to get to my destination aside from an Uber voucher that only covered a portion of my trip and not the entire ride. I also found that I will only be getting a partial refund from the original booking and not a full one.
TLDR: Leave Turo alone and go to Hertz. Enterprise. A REAL CAR RENTAL BUSINESS.
