I rented this Tesla and showed up to find a cracked windshield — something the host never disclosed before booking. When I pointed it out, I was told it “passed inspection” and would be replaced the following week. That’s not reassuring — that’s a safety concern I had no choice but to accept, because rebooking last-minute in Michigan would have cost significantly more, and availability was essentially zero.
Let me be clear: I did not agree to rent a damaged vehicle. I paid for a car that was represented as rental-ready. It was not. A cracked windshield is not a cosmetic issue — it’s a structural and safety issue, especially in highway driving conditions.
I reached out to the host requesting a partial refund given the undisclosed damage. No response.
If you’re considering this listing: ask for photos of the windshield before you confirm, and don’t assume the car is in the condition it should be. I learned the hard way.
If I could post the size of the windshield cracked I would. It happened before this trip, we went to the shop and they would only have availability during his trip or after. The shop did an inspection and it was so small that was not safety concerns. This didn’t change anything for his trip, gave a bad review just because wanted extra discounts and refunds, even Turo didn’t understand the reason for it. ALSO, we do check in with pictures always before trip starts and at the end of the trip.
