Host was great. Car was clean, but engine light was on (host let me know it’s still safe to drive). Car had no way to charge my phone and felt a bit wonky. Probably just an older car so next time I will pick a newer vehicle. Got me around fine.

Great host and great vehicle.

This vehicle should never have been rented out in the condition I received it.

The moment I got in, it already had a check-engine light and low-tire-pressure warning. Once I started driving, I discovered much more serious problems. The brakes were extremely soft and squishy, there was significant clunking from the front end consistent with badly worn steering/suspension components, and the vehicle shook heavily at highway speeds.

Then the car began overheating and blaring an over-temperature warning. I checked under the hood and found the coolant reservoir COMPLETELY EMPTY.

I immediately documented these issues through Turo messages with the host. Rather than offering a replacement vehicle or any meaningful solution, I was simply told that if I didn’t feel safe, I could return the car. Returning it wasn’t a realistic solution when I had rented the vehicle because I needed transportation.

What really bothered me was the response when I specifically told the host that the coolant reservoir was completely empty: “OK thanks for letting me know.”

I ended up adding water to the reservoir myself because I was trying to prevent the engine from continuing to overheat and potentially suffering catastrophic damage. A renter should not be put in the position of trying to keep someone else’s rental car from destroying its own engine.

On top of all the mechanical and safety problems, the radio didn’t work and there were several other issues with the vehicle.

Afterward, I looked more closely at this host’s previous reviews and found other renters reporting maintenance problems with multiple vehicles. Based on my experience and those reviews, this does not appear to be an isolated incident.

These aren’t complaints about cosmetic damage or minor inconveniences. We’re talking about brakes, steering/suspension, tire-pressure warnings, a check-engine light and an overheating engine with an EMPTY coolant reservoir.

I reported the problems immediately and gave the host an opportunity to address them. No meaningful remedy was offered.

I would absolutely not rent from this host again, and I strongly recommend reading the previous reviews before trusting one of these vehicles with your safety.
