Unfortunately, this was not a positive experience.
During my trip, the vehicle began jerking/shuddering and the “Service Engine Soon” light appeared, which caused me to return the car early for safety reasons while traveling with my daughter.
Upon arrival, the co-host who was physically present spoke with me directly and gave permission for my daughter and I to remain in the parked vehicle while we waited for our ride. The car had already been parked for over an hour, and I had already submitted return photos through Turo.
However, the host then began messaging me in a way that felt accusatory and confrontational, repeatedly implying that I was improperly holding up the return process, despite the fact that I was following the instructions given to me by the co-host on site.
What made the situation even more concerning was that after the owner contacted the co-host, the co-host walked over to me while on the phone, with my daughter present, and attempted to have me deny that permission had been given for us to remain in the vehicle while waiting for our ride. I was not comfortable doing that, so I respectfully asked to speak directly with the owner and explained the situation myself. I had no reason to misrepresent what occurred, and it was disappointing to see the communication change after the co-host was confronted by the owner.
The main issue for me was the return process, the tone in the messages, the delivery, communication, and lack of coordination between the host and co-host. If waiting inside the vehicle or building was acceptable, that should have been communicated clearly and respectfully from the beginning instead of after unnecessary tension had already been created.
The overall experience was stressful, uncomfortable, and unprofessional, especially after having to end my trip early due to concerns about the vehicle’s condition.

Great communication with simple pick up instructions. The car was nicely cleaned before pick up. The car is a bit outdated and the engine is somewhat loud but thankfully I didn’t have any issues with it during my trip.

I’ve rented from this host on about 4 or 5 different occasions now and I’ll start by saying the host is very efficient in communication and is timely in doing so, however the last 2 rentals from this host there has been issues with both vehicles. I rented a 2019 Kia and the vehicle needed desperately to be in a shop. I did advise the host about the noises the vehicle made and shaking when accelerating but the host did not address my concerns. With this most recent rental, the 2020 Mitsubishi, there were vehicle issues as well including a check engine light, vehicle shaking and a unpleasant odor like a dog or something. I did not message the host on this rental due to no response on my last one but I do want to make it be known these two vehicles are not top tier and need mechanical work done. Again the host is pleasant and everything else went smoothly. I would rent from them again but I’d probably choose a more expensive vehicle that will probably not have mechanical issues.
