Pick-up and drop-off were easy, and communication with the host was good. We drove the car to our condo and to the store without any issues, but a couple of days later the car wouldn’t start.
I contacted the host, and they provided me with a number to call for someone to come jump the car. A lovely older gentleman came out and got it started, but he let me know that if I shut the car off, it most likely wouldn’t start again because the battery appeared to be bad. Sure enough, after letting it run for about 15 minutes and driving it around, I turned it off and tried to start it again about 20 minutes later, and it wouldn’t start.
I contacted the host again, and they came out and replaced the battery, which resolved the issue.
The car also had a strange smell that I couldn’t initially figure out. When I went to put groceries in the trunk, I realized the smell was coming from the spare tire area. I moved the mats and found some liquid in the spare tire wheel well. When I moved the spare tire to clean it out, four palmetto bugs came scurrying out. 😳 After cleaning the area, the smell eventually faded.
Aside from those couple of issues, the car drove great and was a very smooth ride. The host was responsive and helpful throughout everything. We had rented from them previously and had a great experience that time. I know that things happen with cars, so I’m not holding these issues against the host. It was more so just an inconvenience. Overall, we had a good experience and would consider renting from them again in the future!
