Was charged $50 for “improper drop off” after parking vehicle at set location. Multiple hidden fees and veh smelled like smoke.

Car was not in good condition when picked up. As soon as I got on the highway I let the owner know that there was a bad vibration going on with the car and didn’t ever get a response for that what so ever to where they basically ignored it. Next message I got from them wasn’t until instructions on me dropping the car back off for my trip being done and then they actually respond to what’s my eta and all then. I suggest to have this car maintained thoroughly before letting somebody take it. Service light as well came on not even 2 days after I had it.

I had a decent trip with Turo and Tien and his team. They were good hosts, contacting me immediately with detailed instructions on pickup, usage and drop-off. They checked in a couple times during the trip and said that if I had any questions, reach out to them. Most of the messages were either automated or canned, not necessarily a bad thing, but not as much personalization other than my name. I booked with Turo because it was cheaper than a big-business car rental place and this was my second time using Turo. I found that while I saved about $100 total by going with Turo, the quality of vehicle in driving and cleanliness cannot always match what you get from a rental car place. The car was an older civic with about 120k miles on it. The inside was cleaned the best they could and I could tell it was cleaned before my trip but it did have noticeable stains on the inside. That didn’t affect my trip, but worth nothing it’s def an older car that’s been used heavily. What was a little bit of a drag though was that the car was shaky/wobbly at highway speeds and noisy. Wasn’t a smooth ride. The steering wheel shook when at those higher speeds. I reached out to the host to let them know about the driving/smoothness issues but they didn’t reply to my message which was meant to give them feedback and maybe identify a problem they could fix. It was unfortunate I didn’t even get a “thank you for letting us know” or “let us know if you have more problems” response. The pickup and drop off was a breeze which is also why I went with Turo and Tien and his team (the car was dropped off by a different person than Tien, maybe a partner or a worker of his, so it feels like it’s a larger team who manages this, not a single guy or family of people if that makes a difference to you). I loved how easy it was and they gave great instructions for the handoff which I was able to do without meeting them. As a note which is not Tien’s fault at all, I chose to rent a car and drive because it seemed cheaper than flying directly but after gas, tolls, taxes and airport parking costs which are all hidden fees I didn’t calculate ahead of time correctly, this wasn’t really a cheaper or easier option than just flying directly. I would book with Tien again and recommend his services but I would choose a newer car with less miles on it.
