During my rental, I was pulled over by the police, who informed me that the vehicle’s registration and insurance were invalid, and that the MVA has issued a pickup order for the tags. The officer stated that the car was subject to impound due to a lapse in insurance coverage.
This situation created a serious safety and legal concern. I had no way of knowing the vehicle was not road legal when I rented it, and I was put at risk of fines, towing, and legal complications due to the host’s negligence.
