The vehicle itself was fine, but the rental experience was not what I expected. Charging instructions were confusing. There was a notice in the vehicle stating a $100 fee if the car was not returned at the exact charge level, but when I contacted the host about using a Tesla Supercharger, I was told the fee could be $200 if the charge level did not match exactly. The inconsistent information made the process unnecessarily stressful.
Additionally, I was asked to provide a selfie in front of the vehicle before it could be unlocked, which felt unusual compared to other Turo rentals I have experienced.
While others may not mind these requirements, the overall experience was not a good fit for me, and I would likely choose a different rental option in the future.
We are sorry for the confusion here. Customers in the past have returned the vehicle at zero %. We have automatic reminders sent towards the end of the Trip stating the fee could be up to those amounts.
In regards to the selfie this is pretty standard in regards to remote pickups, this makes sure the person who booked the trip is the one picking up the vehicle all photos are sent and stay on the Turo platform.
