"Turo has impacted my life in the sense that I can do so much more with the extra money, like spend it on holidays or add to my savings! My bookings generate well over £1,000 per month."

Active Guests

"The earnings from Turo help me cover the costs of the car. They actually go as far as to help me pay for the fuel, servicing, bits and pieces like that. It goes a long way. With car financing, it pretty much pays for itself!"

ALEX F. - London, UK

Frequently asked questions

How does insurance work?

All trips on Turo are automatically covered by third-party auto liability insurance.** You get unlimited coverage for bodily injury or death to others, while coverage for motor third-party property damage is limited to £20,000,000.

**ERS (Syndicate 218 at Lloyd’s) managed by IQUW Syndicate Management Limited, arranged via Turo’s broker, Lockton Companies LLP offers third-party liability insurance. IQUW and Lockton are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

What happens if my car gets damaged?

You're protected if something doesn’t go to plan and your car gets damaged. You can choose between two protection plans — both include reimbursement from Turo for eligible physical damage costs in excess of your plan’s deductible for the Reservation Period*** only.

Protection plans are not insurance but an agreement between you and Turo about how to allocate financial responsibility, and the protection plan your guest chooses is entirely separate from yours.

The protection plan available through Turo is separate from your personal insurance. You still need car insurance, so your car is insured for non-Turo trips all year round.

***The Reservation Period is the period shown for a booked trip. It begins at the trip start time listed in the reservation and when the vehicle is in the custody or control of the guest. It ends the earlier of the trip end time or when the vehicle is returned to the host or the location designated in the reservation.

How does check-in work and what happens at the end of a trip?

Before you hand over the keys to your guest, the Turo app will prompt you to take multiple photos of the exterior and interior of the car to document its condition and enter the mileage and fuel levels. You can read a breakdown of the check-in process.

At the agreed time, hand over your keys to the primary driver. You’ll also be asked to check the guest’s driving license against the information provided in the app unless it’s a Turo Go trip. Find out more about check-in on Turo Go. Guest verification also applies if you’re using a lockbox solution. Find out more about contactless check-ins.

If the primary guest is not in attendance at check-in or doesn’t have their driving license on them, do not hand over the keys. Contact support if you have any cause for hesitation.

At the end of their trip, your guest will return the vehicle to the pre-arranged location at the agreed time. The app will guide you through the check-out process.

How are incidentals and claims resolved?

After you check out at the end of a trip, your app will walk you through the steps to file a claim, request reimbursements for a parking ticket, toll or missing fuel or charge, or request information for a speeding ticket. If you are notified of damage during a trip, you and your guest can report damage through the app while the trip is in progress.

Our support team are on hand to assist you along the way if you run into any difficulties.

How can I check if my car is eligible to list on Turo?

Check our eligibility requirements for UK cars. At all times, make sure your vehicle is insured and has a valid MOT. If your car’s value is over £50,000, your vehicle will need a tracker. You can find out more about insurance for higher-value cars.

How do I contact support?

You can visit our Help Centre or tap ‘Contact Us’ in the bottom right corner of our website.

How long does it take for my earnings to come through?

Host payments are handled through a third-party payment provider, Stripe. It typically takes Stripe 5-7 days to confirm and process payment after your first trip is complete and approximately three business days from then onwards. You'll receive weekly partial payments if you have a trip that lasts longer than a week.

What if my vehicle is damaged while on a trip?

You're protected if something doesn’t go to plan and your car gets damaged. You can choose between two protection plans — both include reimbursement from Turo for eligible physical damage costs in excess of your plan’s deductible for the Reservation Period**** only.

****The Reservation Period is the period shown for a booked trip. It begins at the trip start time listed in the reservation and when the vehicle is in the custody or control of the guest. It ends the earlier of the trip's end time or when the car is returned to the host or the location designated in the reservation. The Reservation Period does not include delivery.
