Carma definitely restored my faith in Tullamarine car rental companies. Hannah was super friendly. Pick and drop off was a breeze. Car got 700kms on one tank. No complaints at all. Thanks team!

I will break my car rental experience (November, 2025) into 3 parts: Turo, car provider and vehicle. Turo. First time to use this app. Overall, simple and intuitive to use. It is a good option when compared to the traditional car rental companies. It was really nice not having to wait at the service rental counter. Car provider. Once you finish with the Turo process, you finalize all the details with the car owner. Daniel was exceptional to work with. He was timely and thorough with his responses to all my inquiries. Our flight arrived earlier than scheduled. I contacted Daniel and he had the car immediately available for my use. He was honest and trustworthy. At the end of the trip, I identified what I thought was a new chip in the paint. He reported it was present before the rental and not an issue. There is comfort in knowing there was no hidden agenda. Vehicle, Toyota Corolla, 2015. Don't let the age or size of the car deter you. The car was clean, dependable and satisfied all of my needs for 2 people. Hawaii may be dramatic with its natural wonders, but it is stingy with the parking spaces and roads (think road to Hana and Haleakala Volcano). We were happy to be driving this car instead of the SUVs and Jeeps that populated the parking lots and narrow, twisting roads. Overall, I would recommend Turo and HIGHLY recommend Daniel and his Toyota Corolla for your car rental needs in Maui.

David was communicative, pickup and drop off was easy with clear instructions, car drove well, overall very satisfied with our experience. Great cost friendly alternative to bigger car rental companies with a lot more flexibility, but come with the right expectations (i.e. don't expect a squeaky clean car)

Everything was perfect!!! Thank you so much to Jensen for a great car rental experience. He was super detailed with pickup and drop-off instructions. He even helped us find an available car when our trip dates changed and the original car wasn’t available. AND he was flexible on our pickup/drop-off times if we needed. Another awesome, hassle-free Turo experience! Mahalo Jensen!

Ford Mustang 2024

Wow. Just wow. If you’re planning to rent a car while in Oahu, this Ford Mustang convertible is absolutely the way to do it. There’s nothing like dropping the top and cruising along the island coastlines with the Hawaiian sun and ocean views around you. It honestly became one of the highlights of our trip. The car itself was spotless, fun to drive, and perfect for exploring the island. But what really made the experience exceptional was Gabriel. From start to finish, he was incredibly responsive, professional, and accommodating. Pick-up and drop-off were seamless, and he went out of his way to make everything easy and stress-free for our family. If you’re considering renting a vehicle in Oahu, do yourself a favor and rent from Gabriel. You won’t regret it!

For exploring Wakerley and the greater Brisbane area, versatile vehicles are ideal due to the diverse terrain. A mid-size SUV offers a good balance of comfort for city driving and capability for rural excursions. If you're planning to stick mainly to urban areas, a compact car could be suitable, providing easy manoeuvrability and parking in Brisbane's busy streets. For those venturing to coastal areas or considering a trip to North Stradbroke Island, a vehicle with higher clearance might be beneficial. Convertibles can be a fun option for scenic drives along the coast, while larger vehicles like vans or minivans are great for group trips. Your car rental choice should align with your itinerary, whether it involves city exploration, beach visits, or countryside adventures. Consider fuel efficiency for longer trips and ensure the vehicle suits your comfort and luggage needs.

The nearby suburbs of Manly West and Carindale host multiple fuel options, including major chains and independent stations. It's advisable to fill up your hired car before heading out on lengthy journeys. For those venturing further afield, petrol stations are generally well-distributed along major highways and in towns. However, when exploring rural areas, it's wise to top up whenever the opportunity arises, as stations can be more spread out. Many modern petrol stations offer convenience stores for snacks and basic supplies. Some even provide electric charging points for those opting for eco-friendly car hire options. Remember to check your vehicle's fuel gauge regularly and plan refuelling stops, especially when travelling to less populated areas of Queensland.

What essential tips should guests know about driving in Queensland's unpredictable weather conditions?

When driving your hired car in Queensland, be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions. During the wet season (November to April), heavy rains can cause flash flooding, so avoid driving through water-covered roads. In dry periods, watch for dust storms in inland areas, which can severely reduce visibility. Always check weather forecasts before long drives and adjust your plans if necessary. Keep your headlights on during poor visibility and increase your following distance. Be cautious of wildlife on roads, especially at dawn and dusk. In tropical north Queensland, cyclones can occur, so stay informed about any weather warnings. Heat can be intense, so ensure your vehicle's air conditioning is functioning well. Pack extra water and snacks in case of unexpected delays. Lastly, be aware that intense sun glare can affect visibility, particularly during early morning and late afternoon drives.

Are there any challenging driving areas in Brisbane that guests should be aware of?

While Brisbane is generally driver-friendly, there are a few areas that can present challenges for those unfamiliar with the city. The CBD can be tricky to navigate due to one-way streets and peak hour congestion. The Story Bridge and Captain Cook Bridge can become congested during rush hours, so plan your travel times accordingly. Roundabouts are common in suburban areas and can be confusing for international visitors. The hilly terrain in some parts of Brisbane, such as Mount Coot-tha, requires careful driving, especially in wet conditions. When using your car hire, be cautious of cyclists and pedestrians in busy urban areas. School zones have reduced speed limits during specific hours, so stay alert for these changes. Lastly, be prepared for occasional roadworks which can alter traffic flow. Familiarise yourself with local road rules and consider using a GPS to help navigate these potentially challenging areas.

How can guests plan an enjoyable road trip from Wakerley to the Gold Coast?

Planning a road trip from Wakerley to the Gold Coast in your hired car can be an exciting adventure. Start by mapping out your route, which typically involves taking the Pacific Motorway (M1) south. Consider making stops along the way to break up the journey and explore. Beenleigh, known for its rum distillery, offers an interesting detour. As you approach the Gold Coast, you might want to exit the highway to visit the charming hinterland towns like Mount Tamborine. Once on the Gold Coast, plan your activities based on your interests - whether it's hitting the famous beaches, exploring the rainforests, or visiting theme parks. Pack snacks and water for the drive, and ensure your car rental is in good condition before setting out. Keep an eye on traffic reports, as the M1 can get busy, especially during peak holiday periods. Remember to take breaks if you're feeling tired and enjoy the diverse scenery Queensland has to offer along the way.

What are the best practices for driving safely on rural roads in Queensland?

When driving your car hire on Queensland's rural roads, safety should be your top priority. Always adhere to posted speed limits and reduce speed on unfamiliar or winding roads. Be prepared for unexpected wildlife, especially at dawn and dusk - kangaroos and wallabies are common sights. Maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles, particularly road trains (long trucks) which require extra space for overtaking. Some rural roads may be unsealed, so adjust your driving accordingly and be cautious of loose gravel. Fatigue can be a major risk on long drives, so plan regular rest stops and share driving responsibilities if possible. Ensure your vehicle is well-maintained and carry extra water and supplies. Mobile phone coverage can be patchy in remote areas, so consider alternative communication methods for emergencies. Lastly, be mindful of changing weather conditions, as rural roads can be more susceptible to flooding or bushfire impacts.
