Dig into the tips below to learn how to take beautiful photos of your car.

6 easy tips

for snapping great photos of your car

Tip 1

Take clear, sharp photos with an appealing background

Your car photos should be crisp with natural light and a clean background. Avoid blurry or dark shots, or having other cars in the frame. Parks, colorful walls, city skylines, or natural environments can all make good locations.

Tip 2

Get the whole car in the frame

Turo crops 20% off every side of your photos, so it’s super important to step way back from your car to make sure everything is in the shot. The images inside the pink frames are in the “safe zone,” and everything in pink will be cropped out. Give yourself a generous buffer so your bumpers and wheels are included.

Tip 3

Take pictures at a normal angle

Line up your car’s edges so they’re parallel to the frame. Reposition the car to take shots of all sides, from a three-quarters angle, and inside. Avoid strange angles that can look weird.

Tip 4

Shoot when the light is softer

Sunrise to late morning or late afternoon to sunset are the best times to take pictures. Avoid shooting in bright, midday light, which can create a glare. Also, avoid dim lighting, like in a parking garage, which can make it harder to see your car.

Tip 5

Capture the interior and Extras

Guests like seeing the inside of the car, including where they’ll be sitting, the dashboard, the cargo space, and if the seats can fold down. If you offer any Extras like a car seat, cooler, or bike rack, it’s a great idea to take a photo of them too.

Don’t use stock photography or dealership pics

Your car is uniquely yours — color, trim, and actual condition included. Using stock photography can be misleading and is against our Terms of Service.
