Hackney, a vibrant borough in East London, offers a unique blend of urban charm and green spaces. From the trendy streets of Shoreditch to the tranquil beauty of Victoria Park, this diverse area has something for everyone. Renting a car in Hackney gives you the freedom to explore its hidden gems, from quirky markets to historic landmarks, all at your own pace. With a rental car, you can easily venture beyond Hackney's borders to discover the wider wonders of London and its surrounding areas.

The host was excellent throughout the whole process. Communication was very good, he was friendly and easy to deal with, and he made the whole car rental process simple and stress-free. Everything was straightforward from start to finish, and I would definitely rent from him again.

Great and easy car rental! Will definitely rent it again, Edith was great!
Overall, a solid car rental experience. The booking process was seamless, and the car was reliable, and drove perfectly.

Car was great , great price for a central prick up and Pauline was a great host

The car was in excellent condition and super clean and well presented. Vivek was amiable, friendly and responsive. I needed to change the pick up time and then during the journey, the drop off time, and it wasn't any problem to get a response. Highly recommend the car and the courteous service!

Great experience! The drive was super smooth, and the Golf can easily manage about 143 miles on a single charge without any issues. Charging was completely hassle-free. Alhajie was incredibly helpful and lent us a Type 2 cable, which is great for cheaper charging (takes about 3-5 hours). If you are in a rush, just plug it into a fast charger for 40 minutes and you are good to go. Quick tip for future renters: If you want to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, make sure to bring your own data cable. The cables provided in the car are for charging only. The car does show some signs of wear and tear both inside and out, but it didn't bother us at all. Everything was awesome! Highly recommended.

Mo was professional and was a quick and efficient rental process. Thank you will be using again. If needed in future.
Moh was incredibly accommodating and was happy to deliver and pick up the car directly to and from my address. Communication was nice and simple and the ride was smooth!
I had the car rental experience with Mirza! He was very communicative and fast in responding to any queries, the car drives very well and it’s also fuel efficient. Pick up and drop off process was very easy and straightforward, the host is also very kind and friendly. Definitely best price rate and car rental experience you would have (especially with automatic car!)

“Great experience renting this car. The car was in good condition, clean, and well maintained. Dan was very friendly, responsive, and easy to communicate with throughout the rental process. Pickup and return were smooth. I would definitely rent again.”

Excellent experience from start to finish. Micah was friendly, professional, and had great communication throughout the trip. The Audi A3 was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described. Pickup and drop-off were quick and easy, making the whole process hassle-free. I’d definitely rent from Micah again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable host and a great car.

Roy and the rest of the team at esco was very helpful and accommodating, this is one of the best if not the best rental I’ve taken out on Turo. Highly recommend, car was clean, good drive and the host was highly responsive

We had a great trip with Ibraheem’s car. The car was clean and working perfectly. We enjoyed the ac in the hot weather. Would rent again and highly recommend.

Soban was a fantastic host, and the entire rental experience was seamless from start to finish. The pick-up and drop-off process is incredibly easy and convenient, especially for anyone traveling through Victoria Station or flying in and out of Gatwick. It made both travel days completely stress-free. The car itself was comfortable, drove beautifully, and had excellent gas mileage. Everything was exactly as described, and communication was smooth throughout. I would happily rent from Soban again and highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a reliable and convenient option.
The owner was very polite, friendly, and always responsive. Communication was excellent throughout the rental, and they were helpful whenever I had any questions. The car was as described, and the whole experience was smooth and hassle-free. I would happily rent from them again.

Proper car, proper host, zero nonsense. The Audi A6 was in excellent condition — clean, well kept and clearly looked after properly, not just “rental clean” for appearances. Drives beautifully, looks sharp, and does exactly what a good A6 should do: makes the journey feel quietly superior without shouting about it. The host was excellent as well — easy, reliable and refreshingly normal to deal with. Very happy to recommend.

As many people, I and a former ZipCar member. And Kash Z was very understanding, helpful and supportive as it was my first time hiring a car on Turo. The car was immaculate in the inside and super "Show-Room" clean! The car had a full tank and did my TURO check in photos, then away I was on my journey! I have driven a lot of different automatic/manual cars and this Toyoya Aygo is a great small AUTOMATIC car. This Automatic gearbox can also allow you to shift Up/Down gears. This type of gear box does have a slight noticeable delay when it shifts as it changes gears in auto mode, which is just a Toyota gearbox design. Great reverse camera, which is always a nice feature. That aside and once use to the car, it was a great car to Drive. Kash keeps it in top condition!

This National Trust property, built in 1535, stands out with its unique blend of Tudor and Georgian architecture. When booking a car in Hackney, consider these tips: Reserve early on Turo for the best selection, especially during peak seasons. Choose a compact car for easy city navigation and parking. Look for extras like GPS or a backup camera to make driving in London easier. If you're planning day trips, consider a vehicle with good fuel efficiency. Remember to check for congestion charge zones in central London. Opting for a car with keyless entry can be convenient for quick stops at Hackney's many attractions. Always review the vehicle's features to ensure it meets your needs for exploring both urban and green spaces in Hackney.
Hackney offers several convenient pickup locations for rental cars booked on Turo. Many Hosts on Turo in Hackney Central provide flexible pickup options, often near well-connected public transport hubs. The area around Hackney Central station is a popular spot, easily accessible by London Overground. Some Hosts on Turo offer pickup points near Mare Street, which is served by numerous bus routes. Additionally, you might find car hire options near Hackney Downs station, another transport-friendly location. When booking a car hire in Hackney, London, consider choosing a Host on Turo who offers delivery to your preferred location, making the process even more convenient. Navigating Hackney's bustling streets during peak hours requires patience and strategy. Consider using a smaller car for easier manoeuvring through narrow roads. Familiarise yourself with alternative routes to avoid main thoroughfares like Mare Street or Kingsland Road during rush hours. Utilise real-time traffic apps to stay informed about congestion hotspots. Parking can be challenging, so look for designated car parks or consider using public transport for certain trips. Remember that Hackney features several bus lanes and cycle superhighways, so stay alert and respect these dedicated spaces. By planning your journeys in advance and allowing extra time, you'll find exploring Greater London from Hackney more enjoyable and less stressful.
Hackney offers several picturesque driving routes for those looking to explore the area's beauty. Consider a leisurely drive along Regent's Canal, starting from Broadway Market and heading towards Victoria Park. This route offers charming waterside views and glimpses of colourful narrowboats. For a green escape, take a spin around the perimeter of Hackney Marshes, where you'll enjoy open spaces and wildlife sightings. A drive through the leafy streets of Stoke Newington provides a mix of Victorian architecture and trendy cafes. For a longer journey, head north towards Epping Forest, where winding roads through ancient woodland offer a refreshing contrast to urban Hackney. Remember to respect local speed limits and be mindful of cyclists and pedestrians sharing these scenic routes.
Finding convenient parking in Hackney can be challenging, but several options exist. The London Fields Lido car park offers a central location with easy access to Broadway Market and London Fields park. For shopping trips, consider the Hackney Central car park near the Hackney Empire. If you're exploring Hackney Wick, the Here East car park provides ample space. Street parking is available but often restricted to residents during certain hours, so always check signage carefully. Some areas offer pay-and-display options, but be prepared for higher rates in popular spots. Consider using smartphone apps that help locate available parking spaces in real-time. Remember to factor in parking costs when planning your Hackney adventures, and always lock your car securely, taking valuables with you.
When driving from Hackney to other parts of Greater London, be aware of the Congestion Charge zone in central London. While Hackney itself isn't within this zone, you may encounter it when travelling to areas like the City or West End. The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) also covers all of London within the North and South Circular roads, including Hackney. Ensure your vehicle meets the ULEZ standards to avoid charges. If your journey takes you east, be mindful of the Dartford Crossing toll when travelling beyond the M25. It's advisable to check Transport for London's website for the most up-to-date information on charges and affected areas. Planning your route in advance can help you navigate these zones efficiently and avoid unexpected costs during your Greater London explorations.
For navigating Hackney's narrow streets and busy traffic, compact and small cars are highly recommended. A city car or supermini would be ideal for manoeuvring through tight spaces and finding parking spots more easily. Hatchbacks like the Toyota Yaris or Peugeot 208 offer a good balance of size and practicality. If you need more space, consider a small SUV that provides a higher driving position without compromising on agility. Electric vehicles are also an excellent choice for Hackney, aligning with the borough's environmental initiatives and benefiting from numerous charging points. Whatever your choice, opt for vehicles with good visibility and responsive steering to handle the urban environment confidently. Remember, smaller cars not only make navigation easier but also tend to be more fuel-efficient for city driving.
Preparing for Hackney's varied weather conditions is crucial for safe driving. In rainy weather, which is common in London, ensure your car's wipers are functioning well and tyres have good tread for proper grip on wet roads. During occasional winter frosts, be cautious of icy patches, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Fog can occur, especially near the River Lea, so familiarise yourself with fog light usage. In summer, be prepared for occasional heatwaves by checking your car's cooling system. Always carry a reusable water bottle and sunglasses for comfort. Year-round, it's wise to have an umbrella in the car for those unexpected London showers. Regularly check weather forecasts and adjust your driving plans accordingly to ensure a safe and comfortable journey through Hackney and Greater London.
When driving in unfamiliar areas of Hackney and its surroundings, prioritise safety and awareness. Familiarise yourself with local traffic rules, such as bus lanes and cycle superhighways, which are common in Hackney. Use a reliable GPS or smartphone app for navigation, but always remain alert to your surroundings. Be prepared for unexpected one-way streets and pedestrian zones, particularly in areas like Hackney Central. Watch for cyclists and pedestrians, as Hackney has a strong cycling culture. Respect speed limits, which can vary even on short stretches of road. When parking, always check signage carefully to avoid fines. If you're unsure about a route, it's better to pull over safely and reassess than to make risky manoeuvres. Lastly, remain patient and courteous – London traffic can be challenging, but a calm approach ensures a safer journey for everyone.
Hackney and its surrounding areas offer several reliable options for refuelling your car. You'll find petrol stations along major routes such as the A10 and A12, which are convenient for those exploring Greater London. The Esso station on Balls Pond Road is a popular choice for its central location. For those venturing towards Stratford, the BP station on Wick Road provides a convenient stop. If you're in South Hackney, the Shell garage on Victoria Park Road is easily accessible. Remember to check your fuel levels regularly, especially before embarking on longer journeys outside of Hackney. Many petrol stations in the area also offer electric charging points, catering to the growing number of electric vehicles in London. It's advisable to familiarise yourself with the locations of a few stations near your planned routes to ensure stress-free refuelling during your Hackney adventures.
