Pickup near or at Airports
Car was clean, ready and where it was meant to be for pick up. Car has a few dents and scratches already on it, which was good as it made me feel a little more comfortable driving it as it’s not in mint condition. Chris was always responsive whenever I messaged. Great little car to get around for a week holiday touring around Tasmania. Great price, value and flexibility in picking up the car late in the evening (midnight) when usual car rentals are closed. Getting an Uber to drop off and pick up after picking up/dropping off the Suzuki swift was not a problem, had not long to wait - even for a 9pm Sunday night Uber pick up when most things are closed. Would rent again from Chris!

The car was a great little find, cheap on fuel and ran really well. The hosts were so lovely, great communication and made pick up and drop off easy and even facilitated the extension on the car when we required.

Lovely car to drive, very clean and great communication! Would definitely recommend and use again :)
Super easy pick up and drop off, great car, great host. Very pleasant experience

Clean car, well maintained and we had a safe and wonderful time in Tassie. Thank you to the owners of this car, well done and much appreciated!
Daniel was very helpful and prompt with replies. Car was great. Thankyou

Car was in great condition. Very accomodating host, very flexible and easy to deal with.

Very friendly host, and nice clean car! Would highly recommend booking with Chris 😄
Daniel was a great host and was flexible with the pickup time and responsive. The car was also in great condition and very convenient. Highly recommend.
Skip the traditional airport car rental counter and pick up your car hire near Launceston Airport (LST), the main gateway into northern Tasmania. Just a short drive from the city, the airport gives you quick access to major roads like the West Tamar Highway and Bass Highway, so you can start exploring the region straight away.
The Launceston city centre is a convenient place to arrange a pickup. Whether you’re staying in a hotel or arriving by shuttle, meeting in the CBD keeps things simple — and puts you moments from cafes, boutiques, and attractions like Cataract Gorge.
Just north of the city centre, Invermay and the Seaport area offer an easy pickup option away from the busy core. Close to the Tamar River and the Queen Victoria Museum, it’s a great place to begin a drive out toward the Tamar Valley wine region and beyond.
Renting a car in Launceston is an easy way to explore northern Tasmania’s natural beauty, from coastal lookouts to mountain drives. With well-maintained roads and relatively light traffic, a car hire on Turo gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace and reach destinations beyond the city with ease.
Driving in Launceston follows standard Australian road rules, with speeds typically 50 km/h in urban areas and up to 100 km/h on rural highways. Roads are generally well-kept, but conditions can become winding and hilly outside the city. Watch for wildlife, especially at dawn and dusk, and always drive cautiously in wet or misty weather.
Parking in Launceston is generally easy and accessible, especially compared to larger Australian cities. The CBD offers a mix of street parking, timed zones, and affordable parking stations. Popular areas like Cataract Gorge and the waterfront can get busy during peak times, so arriving early is recommended for the best spots.
No — there are no toll roads in Launceston or anywhere in Tasmania, so you can plan your drives freely.
Fuel is easy to find in and around Launceston, with multiple petrol stations throughout the city and along major routes. If you’re booking one of the electric vehicles on Turo, EV charging is available at key public locations, including the airport and central parking facilities — it’s best to plan ahead if you’re travelling into more remote areas.
The cost of a Launceston car hire depends on the car type, how long you book, delivery, and the time of year. For better value, look for cars offering early-booking and longer-duration discounts, and compare a few vehicles to find the right fit for your trip and budget.
While Launceston has some public transport, a car is highly recommended to explore Tasmania properly. Many of the state’s top attractions — national parks, vineyards, and coastal towns — sit outside the city, and a rental car gives you the flexibility to reach them on your own schedule.
