Adelaide city is built for wandering. The Adelaide Botanic Gardens sit along the parklands' eastern edge, ground floor laneways hide unmarked bars and restaurants, and the galleries opposite the Intercontinental on North Terrace anchor the cultural spine. Adelaide car hire on Turo makes it easy to search beyond the city centre and explore the best of what South Australia has to offer.
Book the perfect car
Less than an hour north of Adelaide, the Barossa Valley is one of Australia's most celebrated wine regions, with over 80 cellar doors set among rolling hills and century-old stone cottages. Taste shiraz at Penfolds or Seppeltsfield, then wander Tanunda for lunch. The rural roads are quiet and scenic, and your own car means you can drift between Adelaide locations and wineries without watching the clock. Just make sure to bring a designated driver!
About an hour south, the Fleurieu Peninsula unfolds into surf beaches, harbour towns, and the McLaren Vale wine region. Victor Harbor's horse-drawn tram crosses to Granite Island, while the d'Arenberg Cube offers one of the most inventive cellar door experiences in the country. A car is essential for stitching together the peninsula's scattered coastal and vineyard stops.
Just 30 minutes from the CBD, the Adelaide Hills feel like a different world. Cool-climate vineyards line the winding roads, Hahndorf serves bratwurst along its heritage main street, and Mount Lofty Summit delivers the best panoramic view of the city and plains beyond. Explore Cleland Wildlife Park to hand-feed kangaroos, then wind back down as the afternoon light softens.

Carma definitely restored my faith in Tullamarine car rental companies. Hannah was super friendly. Pick and drop off was a breeze. Car got 700kms on one tank. No complaints at all. Thanks team!
I will break my car rental experience (November, 2025) into 3 parts: Turo, car provider and vehicle. Turo. First time to use this app. Overall, simple and intuitive to use. It is a good option when compared to the traditional car rental companies. It was really nice not having to wait at the service rental counter. Car provider. Once you finish with the Turo process, you finalize all the details with the car owner. Daniel was exceptional to work with. He was timely and thorough with his responses to all my inquiries. Our flight arrived earlier than scheduled. I contacted Daniel and he had the car immediately available for my use. He was honest and trustworthy. At the end of the trip, I identified what I thought was a new chip in the paint. He reported it was present before the rental and not an issue. There is comfort in knowing there was no hidden agenda. Vehicle, Toyota Corolla, 2015. Don't let the age or size of the car deter you. The car was clean, dependable and satisfied all of my needs for 2 people. Hawaii may be dramatic with its natural wonders, but it is stingy with the parking spaces and roads (think road to Hana and Haleakala Volcano). We were happy to be driving this car instead of the SUVs and Jeeps that populated the parking lots and narrow, twisting roads. Overall, I would recommend Turo and HIGHLY recommend Daniel and his Toyota Corolla for your car rental needs in Maui.

Everything about this trip and this car rental was amazing. It was very easy to pick up the car. The car was very clean and have a full tank of gas. I would absolutely rent a car with turtle again.
Great car rental service with wonderful customer service! Me and my wife got a nice camaro ss , we drove around the island with the top down and had an amazing time. The best customer service ever, got some tips to make our trip easier. Definitely will rent a car for next vacation with them.
David was communicative, pickup and drop off was easy with clear instructions, car drove well, overall very satisfied with our experience. Great cost friendly alternative to bigger car rental companies with a lot more flexibility, but come with the right expectations (i.e. don't expect a squeaky clean car)

Everything was perfect!!! Thank you so much to Jensen for a great car rental experience. He was super detailed with pickup and drop-off instructions. He even helped us find an available car when our trip dates changed and the original car wasn’t available. AND he was flexible on our pickup/drop-off times if we needed. Another awesome, hassle-free Turo experience! Mahalo Jensen!
Wow. Just wow. If you’re planning to rent a car while in Oahu, this Ford Mustang convertible is absolutely the way to do it. There’s nothing like dropping the top and cruising along the island coastlines with the Hawaiian sun and ocean views around you. It honestly became one of the highlights of our trip. The car itself was spotless, fun to drive, and perfect for exploring the island. But what really made the experience exceptional was Gabriel. From start to finish, he was incredibly responsive, professional, and accommodating. Pick-up and drop-off were seamless, and he went out of his way to make everything easy and stress-free for our family. If you’re considering renting a vehicle in Oahu, do yourself a favor and rent from Gabriel. You won’t regret it!
This trip was amazing because of our car rental. It was super clean and drove really well. Great on gas. The host was also very attentive and nice :) 10/10 recommend.

Amazing experience with both the car and the host! The vehicle was clean, well maintained, and exactly as described. Everything worked perfectly, and the car made the trip even more enjoyable. The host was very friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout the whole rental process. Communication was easy, pickup and drop-off were smooth, and overall everything felt professional and stress-free. Highly recommend renting from this host — definitely would book again!
Pick up was easy, car was very tidy, car was well maintained. Best car rental so far 🫡
Great service. Car was perfect. So much easier than dealing with rental cars
Perfect car for a quick trip to Oahu. With gas prices on the rise it was a perfect car for cruising around the island. Definitely will rent again.
I enjoyed using this car for my solo trip to Brisbane and back. Easy to use. Has built in navigation and Bluetooth to connect my phone (for music). Host was easy to deal with. Responded promptly. Price also good.

Absolutely amazing experience renting this Mustang through Turo! The car was clean, well-maintained, and an absolute blast to drive. Everything about the rental process was smooth and easy from start to finish. The owner was incredibly friendly, responsive, and made the whole experience stress-free. You can tell they really care about both the vehicle and their guests. I would definitely rent from them again and highly recommend this Mustang to anyone looking for a fun and reliable ride!
Car quality was awesome. Comfortable and spacious and neatly tidy and well taken care of. Car rental was awesome and smooth and easy and comfortable. Thank you so much Zerin! Mahalo. Hope to rent from you again for more trips coming up.
Very happy with my car rental. Vehicle worked great for going around the island. the pickup and drop off process was super easy and smooth and the host very reliable. Would rent again.
For the price/quality ratio, it's one of the best cars I've rented.

Adelaide, South Australia has a way of surprising people. The city is compact and walkable, but the best of what surrounds it stretches across vine-covered valleys, rugged coastline, and open country roads that beg to be driven. These tips keep your car hire experience smooth from the moment you collect your vehicle.
The default speed limit on Adelaide's residential streets is 50 km/h, rising to 60 km/h on through-roads and up to 110 km/h on highways like the South Eastern Freeway and Port Wakefield Road heading north. The Adelaide CBD holds a speed limit of 50 km/h throughout, school zones drop to 25 km/h when children are present, and speed cameras cover the full range of Adelaide locations. Handheld phone use behind the wheel is illegal.
Peak traffic builds along the South Road corridor and the South Eastern Freeway between 7:00 am and 9:00 am, then thickens again from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm as Adelaide city empties out. The Freeway's steep descent into town carries a mandatory speed limit of 80 km/h on the downhill stretch, and it catches unfamiliar drivers off guard more often than you'd think. If you're heading to Adelaide Airport, leave before 5:00 pm to avoid the worst of it.
Summer in Adelaide can push well past 40°C, the kind of heat that softens bitumen and shortens patience. Keep water in the vehicle, lean on the air conditioning, and save the long drives for morning or late afternoon. Winter brings fog rolling through the Adelaide Hills before 9:00 am, turning the winding rural roads between the city and the Barossa into something that demands full attention and low beams.
UPark runs ten car parks across the Adelaide CBD and North Adelaide, with popular spots at Central Market, Rundle, and Gawler Place that locals rely on year-round. Wilson Parking operates several more across Adelaide, and the Adelaide Central location on Hindley Street offers extended hours. Metered street parking applies until 6:00 pm on weekdays, with some Adelaide locations enforcing restrictions until 1:00 pm on Saturdays, so read the signage before you walk away.
Outside the CBD, the pressure drops. Beach suburbs, hinterland villages, and wine country destinations tend to have plenty of room, though popular spots like Glenelg and Hahndorf fill up on sunny weekends. Arriving early is always the simplest move.
South Australia has no toll roads. Every highway, freeway, and back road across the state is free to drive, so there are no extra fees for which to budget.
OTR is the fuel chain you'll see everywhere in South Australia, with Shell-branded stations lining North Terrace, West Terrace, Portrush Road, Main North Road, and the suburban corridors in between. Fill up with a full tank before heading into wine country or down the coast, as stations thin out past the city fringe and fuel prices tend to climb the further you go.
If you hire a car that runs electric on Turo, Adelaide is well set up. A Tesla Supercharger sits on Franklin Street in the CBD, Chargefox fast chargers operate nearby, and the City of Adelaide runs over 50 public charging stations across the city and North Adelaide, including bays at UPark car parks. RAA Charge is expanding fast across Adelaide, South Australia, making EV travel increasingly practical beyond the built-up areas.
Adelaide's public transport covers the inner city with buses, trams and a free City Connector loop, but the real magic of South Australia starts where the tramline ends. The Barossa Valley's cellar doors, the coastal cliffs of the Fleurieu Peninsula, the German charm of Hahndorf, and the wild beauty of Kangaroo Island all need a car to reach properly. The average price of a guided day tour adds up fast, and even the cheapest month to visit won't change the fact that the best destinations sit beyond the bus route. Turo lets you explore from any location that suits you, with a full range of options and the best car for your plans at prices that work within your budget.

To rent a car on Turo in Australia, you must create a Turo account, have a valid driver’s license, get approved to drive on Turo, and be 21 years old or older.
When you’re booking your first trip, you’ll go through a quick approval process by entering your driver’s license and some other information. In most cases, you’ll get approved immediately, and you’ll be set for all future road trips, day trips, and business trips!
Many Turo car rental vehicles are available for delivery to specific locations or popular areas in the town, like airports or hotels. Below are some popular pickup locations in Adelaide:
Adelaide Airport: Adelaide Airport car rental on Turo skips the queue at a traditional airport car rental counter. Hosts can arrange delivery on site or at approved spots near the baggage reclaim area and ground floor terminal exit. The Turo app covers all drop off details and meeting instructions ahead of time, so you can walk off the plane and into your Adelaide car hire without the runaround. From here, the city centre is just a 15-minute drive.
Adelaide CBD: If you're already in town, picking up closer to Adelaide CBD puts you right where you need to be. Many vehicles across Adelaide city offer flexible meeting spots near key hubs, making it easy to search for a car in Adelaide that suits your schedule. Heading to the Barossa Valley for the day or out to the coast for a long weekend, your drop off location and pickup details all live in the Turo app before your trip begins.
Fleurieu Peninsula and the south: Travellers heading straight to McLaren Vale, Victor Harbor, or the ferry to Kangaroo Island can save time by picking up from Adelaide locations south of the city. Turo vehicles in Adelaide, South Australia, are spread well beyond the CBD, putting wine country and the coastline within easy reach from the moment you collect your keys.
- Holiday car rental: South Australia opens up the moment you leave the city limits. Wine regions, coastal cliffs, and outback horizons all sit within a day's drive, and SUVs are the most popular car type for families looking to cover serious ground. Hire a car, fill a full tank before you head out, and let the holiday unfold at whatever pace feels right.
- Long term car rental: Adelaide has a way of convincing people to stay longer than planned. A semester at university, a contract that keeps extending, a sea change that started as a visit and quietly became permanent. Turo's flexible booking runs by the week or month at prices that make long-term driving practical. Fuel-efficient sedans and commercial vehicles are both available, so the car bends around your life rather than the other way around.
- Wedding car rental: Golden hour light spilling across a Barossa vineyard, stone church walls warming in the late afternoon sun, and a road winding through the Adelaide Hills at just the right speed limit. An Adelaide wedding deserves an arrival that carries the same energy. Browse Turo for polished luxury rides or elegant convertibles, confirm your pickup ahead of time, and let the day unfold without any issue.
You must have a valid, full, active, permanent licence to book a car in Australia. A valid licence is one that’s not expired, suspended, or revoked.
If you have a licence issued by a country outside of Australia, Turo requires you to have a valid permanent licence issued by your home country. If your home country's licence is not written in English, you must also have an International Driving Permit or an official English translation of your home country's licence.
The minimum age to rent a vehicle on Turo in Australia is 21 years of age, with all drivers under 25 years old being subjected to an extra cost of $15/day (a.k.a the Young Driver Surcharge). - Convertible rental: Drop the top and cruise the coastal road from Glenelg to Victor Harbor with the salt air rolling in.
- Sedan rental: A Toyota Corolla or Kia Cerato keeps things fuel efficient and comfortable for daily drives around the city or a cellar door crawl through McLaren Vale.
- Luxury car rental: Arrive at a Barossa Valley dinner or North Terrace event in a Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 3 Series, polished against a backdrop of sandstone and sunset.
- 4WD rental: A Toyota LandCruiser or Ford Ranger offers added confidence on unsealed roads across Kangaroo Island and through the Flinders Ranges.
- People mover rental: Families and groups loaded with prams, bikes, and picnic supplies will love the space of a Kia Carnival for long days between beaches, wineries, and national parks.
