UK models are available with efficient diesel powertrains and a fully electric variant. The electric version comes with rear‑wheel drive and the same Transporter practicality, providing a great option for city driving or long holiday trips.
Standard features include a 12‑inch digital driver display, 13‑inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless smartphone connectivity and advanced driver assistance systems. For example: park assist, blind‑spot alert and lane‑assist feature on higher trims to make for an even smoother journey.

Had a great experience renting Craig’s VW Transporter for our road trip around the north east of Scotland. Craig was very welcoming and communication was smooth throughout. Check in and check out were easy and hassle free. We had a minor issue with the van near the end of the trip, but it didn’t affect our plans or overall experience. Would happily rent again!

The van is incredibly versatile: roomy yet easy to navigate with. And Craig is absolutely the best. He has supplied the van with thoughtful accessories (chargers, flashlight, umbrella) and truly cares about the folks driving the van. Cannot recommend enough.

Exactly how Turo should be and Craig goes all the way! Car is taken care of, goes beyond his way to make everything as smooth and comfortable as possible. Fantastic communication. It’s like borrowing the car or a best friend. Perfect for a trip through the highlands or trip with your friends for a golf trip. Just 10/10
Absolutely brilliant van to drive, and Craig was fantastic to deal with. He provided us with everything we could possibly need for our trip including bin bags, paper towels and even motor oil. Excellent all round, couldn’t have asked for more.
A great option if you have 4 golfers who need a car to carry their clubs. Craig was an amazing host, he checked in often and ensured we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

This VW is an amazing beast of a van. Took us across Scotland with nary a complaint. Excellent host. Will definitely do this again.

Craig is a great host and the car had no issues whatsoever. It was very clean and had good mileage. Big plus was storage space since we had many suitcases.

Craig went above and beyond. He picked us up with the train station helped us navigate where to park and gave great local recommendations for restaurants in the town where we were staying. The van is very comfortable for five people and all of their luggage.

Five stars all the way around. The VW could not be a better choice for a Scottish vacation with friends/luggage/golf bags, and Craig could not be a more accommodating and communicative host. Pickup and dropoff were all sorted and easy as it gets, and the van itself was perfect for our ten day golf trip. Clean, practical, efficient. Highly recommend.

If you’re new to driving a van like the Volkswagen Transporter, don’t worry — this car hire is more intuitive than it looks. Here are some tips to help you get comfortable:
- Start in a quiet parking lot: Take a few minutes to get a feel for the Transporter’s length, width, and turning radius. Practice slow turns, reversing, and parking — this builds confidence before heading onto busier roads.
- Adjust your mirrors and seat: Make sure you can clearly see both sides and the rear. The higher driving position helps with visibility, but getting it right from the start makes a big difference.
- Take it slow on tight corners: While the Transporter handles like a car in many ways, its size can make sharp turns feel different. Approach corners and roundabouts with a little extra caution.
- Use optional driver assist features: Features like parking sensors or rear cameras can be invaluable when manoeuvring in tight spaces.
- Mind your height and length: Always be aware of low clearances, narrow lanes, and overhangs, especially if you’re used to a regular car.
The cost of Volkswagen vans (like a Transporter rental) can vary depending on the model variant, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap Transporter rental, look out for potential discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.
Whether you're heading off on a camping weekend, moving house, or need a mobile base for work, the Transporter is built to adapt. It’s especially handy for travellers who need more space than a standard car offers - think bikes, tools, luggage, or even a mattress. Just be sure to pick a model that suits your needs, from passenger-focused setups to cargo-style vans.

* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your Turo protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. Liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.
For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans in the US, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host’s vehicle is handled, visit the Turo Support site.
When a trip is booked in the state of Washington, physical damage to the host’s vehicle is covered by insurance purchased by Turo, but the Turo insurance does not change the contractual responsibilities of hosts or guests with respect to physical damage to a host’s vehicle.
