Booking on Turo? Pickup and drop-off at John Wayne Airport happens in Garages A1, A2, B2, and C. To pick up your rental vehicle, head to the designated garage and exit using the ticket left for you. When returning, park in one of the same approved garages, leave a new entry ticket in the vehicle, and message your host with the exact stall number and section via the Turo app.
Turo’s in-app messaging system makes it easy to stay in sync with your host throughout the entire rental period. Whether you're confirming which garage to head to or sharing the precise car rental return location, every detail flows smoothly through the app. Your host will provide everything you need (from the garage and level to the parking stall number), so you can skip the guesswork and focus on the road ahead.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) requires Turo to collect a mandatory airport usage fee for any rental car delivered on-site. Turo doesn’t control or keep this fee; it's simply passed through as required. If your host charges for garage entry or exit, this will be clearly outlined on the vehicle listing. Always check the listing prior to booking to see if local fuel prices, parking fees, or other costs are shared upfront for full transparency.
Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.
Convenient airport car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at approved parking lots or garages. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.
Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.

Santa Ana may not always make the glossy cover of California travel magazines, but that’s exactly what makes it worth exploring. With rich cultural roots, vibrant art, and hidden culinary gems, it’s a city best experienced behind the wheel, with your rental vehicle ready for wherever the day leads.
Rent the perfect carA crown jewel of Santa Ana’s cultural scene, the Bowers Museum is home to world-class exhibitions ranging from ancient Chinese art to Pacific Islander artifacts. Just a quick drive from John Wayne Airport, this museum offers the kind of quiet gravitas that pairs well with a mid-morning espresso and a parking spot you didn’t have to circle twice to find.
Compact but delightfully curated, the Santa Ana Zoo is famous for its commitment to primates, with at least 50 monkeys in residence at all times (seriously). Drive your rental car just 10 minutes from SNA and spend the day with anteaters, ocelots, and capuchins. Bonus points if your car matches the flamingos.
Art studios, speakeasy-style bars, and vintage markets collide in Downtown Santa Ana, where every corner feels like a hidden gem waiting to be posted on Instagram. Park your rental car near 4th Street Market and let the walking (and snacking) begin. It's the perfect way to wrap up a day of museum-hopping or to begin one, depending on your caffeine intake.

Exploring Santa Ana is best done on four wheels — preferably something sleek, efficient, and parked just where you need it. Whether you're headed to historic neighborhoods or a gallery-hopping afternoon downtown, having your own rental vehicle gives you the freedom to go beyond the obvious.
Before you hit the road, here’s everything you need to know about securing a car rental at John Wayne Airport (SNA) and driving in Santa Ana.
On Turo, picking up your rental car at John Wayne Airport (SNA) is refreshingly smooth. Vehicles are parked in Garages A1, A2, B2, or C—no need to trek to an off-site rental counter. Simply locate your car using the Turo app, grab the garage ticket your host left inside, and you’re good to go. The hardest part? Deciding which playlist to queue for the drive.
Returning your rental vehicle is just as seamless. Drive into one of the approved garages (A1, A2, B2, or C), pull a ticket, park in a clearly marked spot, and leave the entry ticket in the car. Message your host via the Turo app to share the section and stall number, and lock up securely using either a lockbox or remote tech—no awkward key handoff required.
Just five miles separate John Wayne Airport (SNA) from Downtown Santa Ana, making it a swift 10- to 15-minute drive depending on traffic. With your own rental car on Turo, you’ll skip the shuttle queues and get straight to the heart of the city—art galleries, taquerias, and all.
Driving in Santa Ana, CA is straightforward, though you’ll want to watch for school zones, cyclists, and the occasional overzealous left turner. The speed limit typically ranges from 25–35 mph in residential areas and up to 65–70 mph on highways. California’s BAC limit is 0.08%, and mobile phone use while driving must be hands-free. Morning and evening rush hour on roads like Bristol Street and Main Street can slow things down, so allow extra time during peak hours.
Downtown Santa Ana offers a mix of metered street parking and city-run garages with reasonable rates. While you might circle a few blocks near hotspots like 4th Street Market, public lots such as the Regal Parking Structure and the Spurgeon Structure offer convenient alternatives. With a bit of planning, you’ll rarely be more than a short walk from your destination, especially if your rental car isn’t the size of a small yacht.
Yes, there are toll roads in Santa Ana, California. Several major toll roads, including State Route 73, State Route 133, and State Route 261, run through Orange County.
Fuel up at nearby stations like Chevron on Main Street or Arco off 17th Street, both just minutes from downtown. For EV drivers, charging stations can be found at the South Main Plaza, Downtown Plaza, and even inside select parking garages. With a growing network of chargers, Santa Ana makes it easy to keep your eco-friendly rental car fully powered.
Absolutely. Public transit is limited, and many of Santa Ana’s best attractions (Bowers Museum or even coastal detours to Huntington Beach) are far easier to reach with a rental car. On Turo, you can choose the exact vehicle that suits your plans, whether it’s a convertible car rental for a beach day or a roomy SUV for a weekend of local exploration.
Rental car types in Santa Ana include, but are far from limited to, luxury SUVs, premium sedans, sports cars, and fuel-sipping compacts, each suited to a different kind of SoCal adventure. Book a Tesla Model Y for guilt-free cruising through Orange County, a Chevrolet Trax for zipping around city streets, or a Hyundai Sonata for practical elegance. If you’re after something timeless, the Nissan Altima or Toyota Camry offer comfort, space, and reliability without fuss. On Turo, your perfect fit is never more than a few taps away.
The cost of car rental in Santa Ana can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rentals in Santa Ana, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.

Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you rent on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.
To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

List of airport locations* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. Liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.
For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host’s vehicle is handled, visit the Turo Support site.
When a trip is booked in the state of Washington, physical damage to the host’s vehicle is covered by insurance purchased by Turo, but Turo’s insurance does not change the contractual responsibilities of hosts or guests with respect to physical damage to a host’s vehicle.
