As a Turo host myself, I fully understand how much ratings matter and I never take them lightly. That’s why I want to be honest and constructive here, because this experience had some serious gaps that I hope the host takes on board.

The good: The car itself was fantastic — clean, well-maintained, and a pleasure to drive. No complaints there whatsoever.

Pick-up & Location: The car was listed as parked at the airport, 1W location. For someone travelling for 4–5 days who isn’t familiar with the airport layout, “1W” means nothing without context or directions. I landed at 12:20 PM and waited over 40 minutes just to receive any details — and the car hadn’t even been parked yet, despite the host having asked for my flight details in advance specifically to prepare. Directions finally came through at 1 PM, and it took another 45+ minutes to locate the car due to the vague reference. Nearly 2 hours of my trip wasted on day one.

Parking Ticket: There was zero communication that I’d be responsible for paying the airport parking ticket out of pocket, and that it wouldn’t be reimbursed. That needs to be disclosed upfront — full stop.

Local Rules & Context: As a host, I always brief my guests on local do’s and don’ts — parking rules, towing zones, anything that could save them from a costly surprise. I expected the same here. Unfortunately, not knowing a local parking rule resulted in my car being towed and a significant out-of-pocket expense to retrieve it.

Towing Incident — No Support: This is where things really broke down. When I reached out for help, the host essentially washed their hands of it and said they wouldn’t be available for 3 days. I had to research the e-notary/online notary process myself and advise them about this to get the vehicle released. I asked if their co-hosts could assist since I didn’t have USD cash on hand — the same co-hosts who had checked in my vehicle just 3 days prior — and was told they “no longer work for him.” That’s hard to believe and harder to accept when you’re stranded.

The 4-star rating reflects the quality of the car and my genuine understanding of how the Turo rating system works. But the communication, preparation, and support during a stressful situation were well below what any guest — let alone a fellow host — should expect.

Car was great. Convertible was amazing in Miami. Host was very responsive and helpful. Totally recommend this car!
