What started off well slowly became one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had renting a vehicle.

First, the host contacted me and changed the pickup location last minute to a much more hectic area at the Dolphin Garage near the airport. When leaving the airport garage, I was forced to pay a $25 exit fee that the host never disclosed beforehand.

After driving the vehicle back to my area, I discovered the tag was expired. When I brought it to the host’s attention, he responded saying it “should not be a problem.” However, after speaking with both Turo and law enforcement, I was informed that driving a vehicle with a tag expired more than seven months can lead to serious legal consequences.

The host also repeatedly contacted me through his personal phone number instead of communicating through the Turo app. At the time, I didn’t realize all communication should remain on the app.

The vehicle itself was also not in good condition. It had very high mileage, squeaky brakes, and the driver-side mirror was literally being held together with duct tape.

To make matters worse, the host contacted me at 1:00 in the morning regarding tracking information for the vehicle. Throughout the entire situation, he was never apologetic and never even attempted to come retrieve the vehicle himself despite the serious registration issue.

After doing further research, I discovered the host most likely already knew about the expired tag because another renter reportedly received a citation for the same issue in March 2026. The tag itself had been expired since November 2025. When I notified him, his response was simply “good catch,” as if he had no idea, yet he still never apologized.

Overall, this was an extremely stressful, inconvenient, and disappointing experience, and I would never rent from this host again.

The only this was that we got pulled over by Police because the car has an expired tag.

A good experience aboard a 2019 V8, the vehicle met the needs. It's ok.
