Overall, I had a good experience with the vehicle itself, and I would give this rental 4 out of 5 stars.
The Tesla was practically brand new, extremely clean, and in excellent condition. There were no dents, scratches, or issues with the vehicle, and it drove perfectly throughout the trip. As a Tesla owner myself, I really enjoyed having access to a newer Model 3 with FSD and Premium Connectivity for most of my rental. Communication from the host was also reasonably responsive whenever I had questions.
The biggest area for improvement is the pickup experience. After arriving at Miami International Airport following a long flight from California, it was difficult to locate the vehicle. The instructions provided were minimal, and we spent quite a bit of time walking through the garage trying to find it. More detailed pickup instructions or a pinned vehicle location would make the process much smoother.
Another inconvenience was not having access through the Tesla app. As someone who has rented Teslas multiple times through Turo, every previous host has shared vehicle access through the Tesla app, allowing me to use my phone as a key and personalize settings. Having to rely solely on a key card throughout the trip made the experience less convenient than it could have been.
My biggest disappointment occurred on the return drive to the airport. FSD and Premium Connectivity were no longer available when I started the vehicle for the one-hour drive back to Miami. I contacted the host and was told there had been a strike against the vehicle due to driving behavior. As a Tesla owner, I am familiar with Tesla’s warning and suspension system, and I did not see any notifications, warnings, or indications that a suspension had occurred. I’m not sure what happened, but losing access to those features during the final drive was frustrating, especially since they were one of the primary reasons I chose this rental.
Overall, the vehicle itself was excellent and I would absolutely recommend renting a Tesla. With better pickup instructions, Tesla app access, and more consistency regarding FSD and Premium Connectivity, this could easily be a 5-star experience.
Hello, you received 5 strike outs by texting and driving and the Tesla FSD turned self driving off for the next 2 weeks due to your irresponsible driving, we cannot cancel fsd when it is active and purchased in the car.
