Bryan is the best! His cars are always in pristine condition. He’s the only rental car place I go to in Boulder. I’ve rented from him multiple times over the years. His prices are fair, and his customer service is top-notch!

Great little car, Timothy was very nice, prompt, and helpful. Takes quite a bit longer to charge than newer EVs, but overall a great experience.

Nissan LEAF 2013

She was there at the assigned time for pickup and even helped me figure out how to check in. The car is in very good condition for its age and was clean. Due to its limited range it's not the kind of car you would take up to Rocky Mountain National Park. But it was great for driving around Boulder. Overall a great experience.

Holly is a very pleasant woman and for local driving would be a good option, longer distance may be more difficult.

This car was amazing! The owner was super helpful and communicative, responded quickly, and was super clear with instructions. Easily the best and smoothest Turo vehicle I have ever rented.

Top tips for renting a car in Boulder

Boulder is easy to navigate, but a few local details will help your trip go smoothly. Here's what to know before you drive.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Boulder?

Colorado roads are well-maintained, but mountain and rural routes require attention — especially in winter. Snow and ice are common from late fall through early spring, so drive carefully, reduce speed on curves, and watch for wildlife near dawn and dusk. Speed limits vary: 25 mph in residential areas, 40–45 mph on main roads, and up to 65 mph on highways. Give yourself extra time on unfamiliar routes, and check weather conditions before heading into the mountains.

What is parking like in Boulder?

Downtown Boulder has metered street parking and several public garages, including structures near Pearl Street. Most meters max out at two hours, so garages are often the better bet for longer stays. The University Hill area fills up quickly on weekdays. Residential neighborhoods may have permit restrictions, so check signage before you park.

Are there toll roads in Boulder?

Boulder itself doesn't have toll roads, but you'll encounter them nearby. The US 36 Express Lanes between Boulder and Denver are tolled, as is E-470 around the Denver metro. Plan your route ahead of time so you know where the toll segments are.

Are there gas stations and EV chargers in Boulder?

Gas stations are easy to find throughout Boulder — you'll see Shell, Conoco, and other major brands near main roads and highway exits. If you're driving an electric vehicle rental in Boulder, charging stations are widely available as well. Look for Tesla Superchargers, ChargePoint stations, and other networks near downtown and along US 36.

Do I need to rent a car in Boulder?

Boulder has solid public transit and bike infrastructure for getting around town, but a car opens up the full experience. Trailheads like Chautauqua, day trips to Rocky Mountain National Park, and exploring nearby mountain towns all require wheels. If your plans extend beyond downtown, a rental car makes the most of your time.

* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host's vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. In the US, liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host's vehicle.

For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host's vehicle is handled, visit the Turo Support site.
